Big Surprise for Kind-Hearted Kid of The Philippine slums 🇵🇭
I am not rich, I do what I can to help, I am not Mr Beast, but I do the best with what I have.
During my recent trip to Manila, Philippines, I had the opportunity to visit the Tondo slums, an area known for its densely populated and impoverished living conditions. As I was exploring the area, I met a young and enthusiastic kid who offered to show me around and help me with my video. He was incredibly kind and welcoming, and I was touched by his eagerness to help me despite the challenging circumstances of his own life.
After spending some time with him, he invited me to meet his family who lived nearby. They welcomed me with open arms into their modest home, and even went out of their way to offer me lunch. I was humbled by their hospitality and generosity, despite their limited resources.
As the young boy had been so kind and helpful to me, I wanted to do something special for him in return. So, I decided to take him out for a fun day of shopping and food. We went to the market, where I helped him pick out some new clothes that he had been eyeing for a while. Seeing the joy on his face as he tried on his new clothes was truly heartwarming.
To cap off the day, we visited his favorite restaurant, Jollibee, which is a Filipino version of McDonald's. He was thrilled to be able to enjoy his favorite meal and spend and share some laughs together. It was a small gesture, but it meant a lot to both of us.
Overall, my experience in Tondo was eye-opening and humbling. Despite the harsh living conditions, I was inspired by the kindness and resilience of the people I met there, particularly the young boy and his family who showed me what true generosity and hospitality looks like.

No, it's not a rarity. You'll see a lot of good kids in slum. Filipino kids, in general, be it from slum areas or rural areas they are kind and hospitable. They might be a little bit intimidated with speaking in English and might be construed as being "not good".

That boy was truly kind-hearted, but also an honest, polite young man. Seems you truly made his day, and I'm sure the smile he gave you with thanks was genuine from him, and you may have given him the 'best day of his life,' but I bet it made you, Marco, smile even more with memories to last forever. So many tourists fall for bad traps of people begging for money because so many tourists have given them money and it's taught them what to do to get money from foreigners so they do it to 'live' to make money off foreigners, horrible. Not to mention the 'touts' who scam people by pretending they're your 'friend' and will show you something unique, be it a market, stall, temple, shrine, jeweler, gold seller, or an art school, only for the tout to want more money than they say it will cost, and it will cost you. I've learned if you want to help the impoverished, only give them food or clothing, not cash-unless it's to a parent or a shopkeeper you visited, who is struggling. This kid was just a genuine soul, and I'm sure his family was thankful for your grocery gift to them, and the clothes for their child. You too, are a gracious soul, so never change, Marco. The hospitality of Filipinos is rooted in our culture. Francis at his very young age and social status showed it all. The friendliness, the willingness to help a stranger and show them around. The kindness and openess that he even invited you to his house and meet his family. They don't have much but they would share whatever they have. You have no idea how you made him feel real good. When you first saw him in the alleys of Tondo and he started showing you around he wasn't really expecting anything in return. I remember seeing when you first offered to buy him food and he said no. The stuff that you bought him are just a bonus. Notice how he kept saying thank you every time. He is grateful for the things that you gave to him but most importantly he is very happy he was able to help out a visitor. Kudos to Francis and thank you Marco for giving him that opportunity.

What a heart warming video, Thank you Marco. I was stationed in Izmir, Turkey just prior to the gulf war and my heart went out to so many families there just scraping buy. I remember the smiles and absolute gratitude that I got just for buying a family a bag or two of food. Some of the best people I have ever met & taught me just how good I have it; VERY HUMBLING.
