Others are happy because Modi didn't get a majority and he can no longer abuse the government institutions to intimidate opposition. Now he has to take Nitish and CBN into confidence before every major move which in itself will hamstring him, he will no longer be as powerful as he was. If Congress wins Maharashtra, Haryana and UP( INDIA did better than NDA in these states despite BJP government in power) which are up for elections, Modi might not even get to complete his term as Nitish or CBN or both will switch sides.

It’s because of them, we will have a weaker government which cannot take all decisions bravely, because of the dependence on alliances. We had a stable government for the past 10 years. Maybe the electorate doesn’t care about a strong government that does not work for them and simply tries to control the media narrative. The warning signs were already there since 2018. Academic research is showing that unemployment in India, especially among youth is anywhere between 18 - 35%, depending on which statistical agency is reporting. Why is this happening if gdp growth is so high? To give you perspective, the highest unemployment rate in the US was 10% during the 2008-2009 great recession. With numbers so high, if you are the one who is unemployed and the govt is telling you that India is “shining”, I doubt you will vote the party in power. A lot of academic research, mostly from the west, is also showing that the govt is over-reporting growth (slightly), and under-reporting joblessness rates (massively). I can’t speak about the religious tensions there, but the statistical numbers on the economy aren’t as great as they say. Take also the poverty rate - the whole formula was fudged just so that the govt could report lower poverty rates. Before you accuse me of being anti-BJP, let me say that I have no dog in this game. I don’t live there, and am not likely to live there. But I do want to see my home country do a lot better whoever is in power. So, I do wish the BJP would do an honest analysis and see what went wrong. It’s too easy to blame someone else for not “supporting” their cause. All the best to the BJP in their next administration, and may they learn and improve from this humbling experience. Maybe then, they will have 400+ seats next time.

What happens next? When I.N.D.I alliance comes to power (based on manifesto): 1. India's entire nuclear weapon arsenal will be destroyed by the alliance and the country will become fully vulnerable to external military threats, and at the very least, to foreign bullying 2. Article 370 will be re-instated, further compromising the national security 3. Hindu wealth will be re-distributed amongst Muslim citizens of the country 4. Alpha-level corruption and desperate bids to retain power by the I.N.D.I. alliance parties in the country will compromise the sovereignty of the nation and will eventually pave the way for a mega battle between the U.S. and China for the NEXT MAJOR COLONIZATION OF BHARAT If NDA comes to power: 1. Need for allies will make the government vulnerable to internal blackmail and now involuntarily more susceptible to and ineffective against internal as well as external corruption (till now it was voluntarily and unnecessarily admitting corrupt politicians) 2. All policy decision making will slow down even further and will be rife with unnecessary internal opposition and opportunistic blackmail 3. The party may require to part with important central government portfolios and require to hand over the same to potentially incompetent and corrupt people, who till now were being held back at MP-level positions with only washing machine benefits 4. This could result in major setbacks for implementing UCC and NRC - this is what happens when public mandates are not respected. The party forgot that the reason they were given a majority mandate was so that they could move fast without having to waste time over negotiations, where they were unnecessary and were clearly threatening the demographic, economic and consequentially the sovereignty and security of the nation The only reasonable way out of this would be to study the causality and prepare solutions in response to failures in U.P., Maha and W.B and eventually dissolve the parliament and go for re-elections looking for a clear and major mandate. A clear and major nationalist mandate is the need of the hour at this critical cusp of time for Bharat, at the very least and most importantly for its own SECURITY.
