A year!? This whole time I thought it all was recorded in a week back in Fall 2022. This is truly unexpected especially how patient you were to keep the footage until you took more footage to complete the exploration. Very impressive

At 7:40... the was definitely a drilling pattern required when advancing a drift. The oldtimers drilled a "vee cut". Modern practice is to use a pattern called a burn cut, which you would be more familiar with.

THIS was an EXCELLENT series guys!! Thank you for sharing all of this. While it's aggravating that you couldn't run those out to a portal somewhere, that's also what kept this thing so well preserved. I have to say I believe this is 1st major workings that didn't have any geologists markings inside, and THAT is a rare thing.

That is a beautiful intrusion zone that looks like it has has three or more periods of enrichment. My God I would love to see what the fire assay results would be in some of those areas you showed with the heavier bands of enrichment! That mine looks so sweet for amazing gold. I bet you can pan the mud under the ore shoots and get some good easy gold.

Wow, amazing old mine. I know the rail wouldn’t indicate that „Q“ being a 9 (as in 1892) but I do think this mine was worked for years and may have had both improvised cheap rail until regular rail was available. Or it paid that well that they invested in rail and had it shipped to the west coast due to the profits they were raking in. The serpentinite is wicked stuff, not only does it play tricks on miners but contains asbestos too. You‘re fine in the as it‘s all wet and damp. Thank you for sharing this, what an amazing mine. Have you thought of having samples analysed? That black seam looked intriguing (not that it has any value). You‘ve been to Europe, I often think of the austrian and italian miners who fought the mountain and dug the Gotthard tunnel. Many died during the construction of the old tunnels due to exactly the same risks you encounter. Not only silicosis but the same minerals just a few thousand miles away from where you recorded this fantastic material. Thank you, keep safe. PS: You may want to have a look at the Calanda mine in Felsenau Switzerland at some time

I notice a lot of the timber has a dark blue/black colour. Is that a surface treatment or is it caused by decomposition by being in a damp environment?. Tremendous series of videos. Looking forward to many more in 2023. Thanks so much.

Thats an impressive find and very fortunate considering the amount of rockfall in the last stope, I am guessing that the water kept everything open and then as it emptied pressure relief brought down a lot of what you were scrambling over, it looked awfully fresh and very scary stuff. It ended very suddenly ....do you think its possible that it linked up with the other mine or was just simply the same ore body. Also I seem to remember some dispute where a mine owner stopped another mine from following an ore body because while it didnt link up it was conmsidered to belong to the first owner..not sure thats a thing or not. Awesome coverage guys and well done for not believing the one that said it stopped.

Isn't the black vein the "carbon leader"? I've heard of them for lead and silver, or a mix of the two in the Appalachian mountains. And for teluridtics and iron leading to gold and sulfates. So a couple times.

@gerardange

It could be a number of minerals. I wish I could of chipped a piece off to see a fresh surface to see if the black color was just oxidation? I think the most interesting thing is it’s association in the Vein in with the Quartz it appears to be also a hydrothermal deposition, As yes 👍 it did have that coal seam look to it… But coal is sedimentary not Hydrothermal. And that is the thing I find most interesting is it’s deposition. So what could be Hydrothermally deposited ??? Well many minerals the first thing could be Silver, Tungsten, even Pitchblende aka Uranium. It is really hard to tell from a youtube video ~ without getting you hands on it.
@hunnybunnysheavymetalmusic6542
@hunnybunnysheavymetalmusic6542 Жыл бұрын
@@gerardange Good point. (~_^)-b Indeed there are a lot of possible minerals it could be. ~( 'w')/ Since I know nothing of the geology of that whole mountain formation, there is no way to guess how deep or under what other conditions that black vein was formed, so without any more information than I have, and going just by its color, texture and reflectivity, I saw the possibility of it being coal. Coal is found under a lot of conditions, so I could not rule it out. That said, indeed, there are many much more valuable minerals it could be, and if it were more valuable, I, as a prospector would be more pleased with such results, naturally.

Why is it that you risk your lives to look at cans and dynamite boxes? I would think you would know a little about what mine minerals are in these tunnels. If you are documenting the mine then you should be able to point out some of the mineral ore that is there. I can only guess what I am seeing. I am not a mine geologist but I would be interested to know what that black vein was; was it igneous or was it lead with silver in it. You said it was a gold mine, but when you mine you also get other precious minerals. I like your exploration but I feel you are missing the details.
