Smee When you call someone a hate filled bigot that sort of shuts the conversation down. How can it move forward? If someone is way off base how can you expect them to open their eyes to something new when you become uncharitable in your response. In some ways we have all been wounded in life. We have to at least try and find some common ground. 😉

James Martin shows enormous courage in going forward with his views, against the condemnation of people who are quick to judge him. These are people whose religious understanding is black and white, as if the Catholic Church is monolithic in its beliefs. News: it is, always has been, gray. These are people who believe that they have a profound understanding of God and are self-appointed spokesmen. If Christ was in the same room, would he extend love or vile remarks? As per Stephen Colbert, it is interesting how similar in demeanor and appearance the two of them are.

If you want to get to heaven live the 10 Commandments. Our Roman Catholic Faith is built on these 10 pillars.. they were given by God the Father himself.
@byranzumbaugh57614 жыл бұрын
Our Lady said, as well as many Saints down through the ages, that the Church leadership would fall into apostasy on account of their lack of respect for the office they hold, which would result in the flock being led astray. Although much has contributed to this over the last 150-200 years, i.e. Freemasons, Communism, Modernism, etc, it culminated in Vat II as the modernists coming out party. Men like Archbishop Lefebvre fought against this, and was eliminated by Alinskian “rules for radicals” tactics. The Neo-Catholics nodded and went along with everything that trickled down through the parishes until we ended up in the ridiculous situation we find ourselves in now. One question. How is that the very same media and pop culture that is so absolutely in love with Pope Francis, stands in complete opposition, and even violence in some cases, to the TRUE doctrine he is SUPPOSED to defend by the nature of his office? He can’t change Church teaching, that’s not his job. His job is to defend and uphold the Deposit of Faith.

Fr. Martin, I'm curious...the Catholic Church says it is impossible for same-sex attracted people to marry because they cannot procreate. More importantly the Church teaches that such sexual contact is always a mortal sin. So I am wondering: do you preach chastity to your LGBT friends so they don't go to hell?
@josephineharkay29016 жыл бұрын
I prefer to say that same-sex couples cannot procreate" by nature" because otherwise you may get the objection that elderly heterosexual couples cannot procreate either, or a heterosexual man or woman who had his/her reproductive organ removed e.g. due to cancer is in the same situation. As far as I know Fr. Martin has no contact with the Courage group.

Benedict XVI was apparently less powerful than this guy. He said homosexuality is an objective disorder. Well, he’s gone, some say because he tried to tackle the pervasive homosexuality problem within the Church; that he said “jump” and nobody jumped; that he just couldn’t make any headway against them. So this “fella” (my mistake, he says he’s been ordered not to reveal his “orientation”); this priest, this “Father” Martin is jetting around making speeches to the better types, and Benedict is “Pope Emeritus.”

My experience in too many years in this condition has shown that many, many people in not just American society see obesity as the truly last socially acceptable prejudice making it perfectly ok to, joke, laugh, scorn (and on and on) with impunity. @@partydean17 Your comment makes no sense whatsoever. The Bible clearly shows in the historical narrative of Acts, (READ IT), that the early Jewish Christian community was, for years, extremely frightened and skeptical of Paul (then known as Saul) “supposed” conversion. In fact, the Jewish community’s continual reluctance, right or wrong to accept him, made him concentrate his ministry to the gentiles. How do you know whether Peter ever “judged” Paul?
