Big Y 700 DNA Part 1

I purchased a Big Y 700 kit from FTDNA. Since I've been working on genealogy for various years, and through that had also taken an autosomal DNA test, I decided to do this one that looks at my paternal line going back into the remote past.
This video is part 1 and we'll look at the results in part 2 when they process it and return my results.
Our surname is Escagedo, and it originates in Cantabria Spain. Escagedo refers to a thorn like bush.
Keep an eye out for part 2, when I review my results when they come in. And we'll compare it with all this, and see what we learn.

I decided to do it since I've been working on related genealogy and various things within this area of study. We'll see what this high end Y haplo test shows, compared to using my autosomal file uploaded to the various prediction tests on line. I'm aware that there may not be many current day testers from the area that my fathers fathers were from, but who knows where else connections might appear. Currently, at least as far as the prediction tests show, there are a couple of modern connections, and they report France as their earliest known paternal origin. We'll see what happens.

Thank you so much for the interesting video! Could you, please, share some links to the websites that you mentioned, where one can get their estimated haplogroup using an autosomal test? We are waiting for the Big-Y results for my husband, and I would like to try these instruments. Thank you in advance!

Yes, you can google "Morley DNA" and they will have a calculator, which will predict a haplogroup. The other site is called Cladefinder.

Awesome! My family is mostly from Santa Clara, Las Villas; except for my paternal grandmother, whose family was from Havana and Matanzas. I am also in Family Tree DNA. My father’s haplogroup is FGC5628/Y4010. I am waiting for my cousin to come to the US to repeat his Y chromosome test in Family Tree DNA; hopefully I can match him to the people of the big Y Haplogroup.

i took a Big-Y 700 test because I wanted to see if I could find the "unknown" father in my paternal line going back to Sweden. Of course, passed down oral tradition and the family tree I was given from 1990 stated this was unofficially "Swedish royalty" When the results came back, it was pretty clear my paternal line in Sweden goes back to the Viking Era. About six months later a match reached out and asked me some questions, etc. Then he asked some other distant matches to upgrade their Y kits. As a result I have found the "unknown" father and dead end in my tree, his father and his likely grandfather. Every 6 months another clue seems to appear from new people taking FTDNA Y tests and other matches showing up on my Big Y results.
