"w" is pronounced as a "v" because in many Slavic languages the "w" is pronounced in that way. In German you've got the same issue. I may have read the linguistic explanation for this but I forgot. :)

Didn't quite get the SIT vs SEAT. Sit - short, seat - long? Which one is which? Will you elaborate on that one a bit more? Since you speak with russian's a lot and notice bits that seem confusing, you could do with some "BAD" russian pronunciation examples from Russians vs the ones you teach. That way it would be so much easier to feel/see the difference.

В общем то, он правильно всё объяснил, только может быть, для русских будет более понятно так: в словах типа beach, peach и тд. - долгий гласный звук, похожий на русское протяжное "и" в словах "ива", "вижу".Этот звук произносится в передней части рта. А вот в слове bitch- короткий открытый гласный звук, напоминающий средний между "и" и "ы", похожий на "и" в слове "шить".Этот звук произносится в середине рта.

Hey, teacher phil!, I'm from South America, and I think I pronounce pretty well, but my north american friends say that I speak weird, it's understandable but weird, I don't know what are my mistakes and what I need to improve (it's because I can't recognize my pronunciation mistakes!), so can you help us (the hispanic speakers) with our pronunciation mistakes?... I think we the hispanic speakers would apreciate it a lot, please help us!. :)

Hi Phil, this is more of a mental problem. There is this sound in Russian, it is written with the letter “Ы”. We can pronounce it fine, but we don’t think of it when we see “i”. We are systematically taught to say it like “И”. If you are targeting the Russian speaking audience, just explain it like that.

Братиш, я лишь русский, который не может осилить английский, но если уж ты делаешь видео для русских, а по количество russians ты явно делаешь это для русских, то прошу используй примеры звуков на русском. Пока я не прочитал комментарий про «ссыт ))))» я не мог определиться со звуком i в sit, то ли действительно некая вариация «и», то ли «э», но нет, я понял, что это явная «ы»
