They made him the face of a series of crimes and included his picture on news that didn't even mention him. He volunteered to be investigated, and even the police tried really hard to pin those crimes on him. He was interrogated on several times for over 100 hours, and little by little most of those accusations were proven false. The police had to drop most of the charges b/c they couldn't get any solid proof, even after a year of investigations. It was even revealed that some questionable messages on a group chat that the media made everyone believe was Seungri, was actually a member of a group from another company. The reporters knew this from the start, but since he wasn't as famous as Seungri, they used Seungri. Seungri was friends with a group of people who did some horrible things and shared it on group chats. Court documents revealed that Seungri wasn't a part of those group chats (so there wasn't a way for him to know what they were doing), however when news articles report about it, even to this day they include Seungri's name when he wasn't involved...again, just because he's more famous than the other celebrities involved. He still has 2 or 3 charges for which he has to go to trial but none of them are serious enough where he could go to jail. I believe the only charge that has actual solid evidence is gambling, for which apparently he confessed to some of it.
