Sakura, Chaewon and Yunjin are all part of Produce 48 in 2018 where IZ*ONE was made. Sakura and Chaewon made it but Yunjin's got eliminated. Since then Yunjin didn't see them personally that's why in the beginning she's so surprised to see them again after a long time. Oh about Eunchae, the original members are 6 Garam was already here but obviously they cut her in the video, but since Ruka didn't make it and Eunchae previously trained in Hybe, that's why they called her.

Just wanted to say that Legally they couldn't show Garam. That's why it was edited so much to leave her out as much as they could. When a contract ends, the idol's image can no longer be used by that company, unless permissions are given. It's a good thing because then companies cannot make profit off someone, and in this case, a minor. Also wanted to add that a lot of Kpop companies manage their idols weight. HYBE and a few other companies have preferred the 'self management' system though. Instead of demanding or monitoring them heavily, they teach the idols proper dieting, nutritionists are brought in to teach them how to eat better but not deprive yourself of a treat now and then. It can seem harsh, but the fact is Kpop relies on visuals and male and female idols have to maintain a healthy but certain weight. But this also isn't for just 'not getting fat', it's also for not being too thin. It's the same with football players, any sports teams really, and cheerleaders, ballet, ice skating, many things that train kids - and those training systems are not that different. It's a lot if you're not used to it, but what's amazing to me is how Western Media likes to claim it's the 'dark side' of Kpop and claim every company is so strict when that's not how it is at all. Have there been and are their companies that abuse the system and or take things too far at times? Yes. Does every company have the same training system? No. Why? Because some companies either can't afford it so they have to scrap together their own training system, or they have to only focus on a few things that they can afford. There's a long talk that could be had about it- but at the end of the day. Source and HYBE is doing it right by talking to the girls, I know it sounds like they're being harsh- translations don't always help when there are no english words for some expressions that they use. But they were telling them calmly that they have to manage themselves and work together on it if needed. It's understandable to get upset because especially Zuha, Kura, and Chae have been through that. Zuha knows how strict it is as a ballerina, Kura and Chae were in an idol group already and knew what to expect maybe. We don't know because we don't know if their previous company had them self manage. It could be tough on them to go from being monitored by someone, having someone always watching out for you... to then you have to learn how to do it yourself. So it's understandable to get upset and for it to be draining. I think that's why Kura said she wanted the members to take it more seriously and work harder at it. I know it can seem unfair. But it's not like these girls are not good eaters. And now they're only a year out of training and yet we've seen they eat pretty damn good, but they also very work hard. So there's a balance. Le Sserafim quickly became my favorite Girl Group in a long time. I really liked GFriend(Previous Source group), but these girls are so different and I love it. They are so different from one another but oh so hilarious. I can't wait for you to get into how amazingly talented and hilarious they really are. Top tier performers (And this is coming from someone who really only is ride or die for BTS- kings of performance- literally changed the way Kpop stages are done) I've been predicting it since they debuted- Le Sserafim is going to go farther than any other girl group, and be actually world wide (I won't debate that here, it's not the place for it.)

Yup, they cut Garam out. I speculated she joined after Ruka eliminated, and before Kazuha joined. You can see the weird zoom ins and awkward camera angles in the vid from that point. The documentary was released after the contract termination so it makes sense they decided to cut her out. Also, the 'self management' thing is actually body management, they deliberately changed the sub into something ambiguous, and they literally said that the members weren't skinny enough, so Sakura got upset and stood up for the members as the most experienced one.

It's really amazing they found so many scenes where they could just crop the image. There are a few instances where they had to cut out a piece of the middle and stitch it back together again. There are some seams you can find iirc but they're surprisingly not easy to spot.

Sakura, Chaewon, and Yunjin all knew each other from having competed against each other on the survival show Produce48 (where 97 Korean and Japanese trainees from all different companies competed to form a new girlgroup). The top 12 finishers became part of a temporary girlgroup called Iz*One (pronounced eyez-1). They were active from 2018-2021 and still have a huge cult following despite disbanding. Sakura - finished 2nd place Chaewon - finished 10th Yunjin - finished 26th and unfairly received a reality show evil-edit much throughout the program The legacy of the show is marred however by evidence of vote rigging. Two contestants who actually had enough votes to make top 12 were left off because some producers felt they didn't "fit the image" of the group they wanted, whatever that means. Both LeSserafim girls however made the top 12 outright. I might be misremembering but some executives involved with the show went to prison over the scandal.

I've heard a lot of people say that Chaewon was one of the rigged members from pd48, but she clearly deserves her place in lesserafim. Producers do probably know who would be a better fit for an idol group. Leaving it up to a popularity contest isn't necessarily going to pick all the best members. But it goes against the spirit of the show so fans had a right to be upset. But the people who hold that against Chaewon still and say she doesn't deserve a place in lesserafim because of it are pretty dumb if you ask me.

@@ebresheaI assure you, she is not. She was originally popular.
@miadavis4837

@@Panorama-memory No, Chaewon was definitely suspected to be one of the rigged members. Her company (Woolim) as well as Starship and 8D (Hyewon's company) were the ones involved in the scandal. Chaewon was popular but never made the top 12 until the finale while Eunbi (the other Woolim member) was consistently in the top. That's why everyone suspected it was Chaewon who was rigged in. It's also pretty much accepted that Sakura was the original first place but she was kicked to second because the producers didn't want a Japanese idol as the center. In fact, it was her finishing second that immediately made everyone start to feel like the voting was rigged even though it wasn't proven until the next season. If you go back and look at messages from the time all of this came up quite a bit. It was pretty much univerally accepted that the Japanese members as well as Wonyoung, Eunbi and Chaeyeon were supposed to be there but everyone else was speculated on (but especially Yunjin, Chaewon and Hyewon because of their companies, along with Wonyoung being rigged into the 1st place position).

More context: Kazuha, at this stage, was not Korean-fluent (proficient might be better word) and you can hear her speak with a strong Japanese accent and she also uses simpler vocabulary. She's much more fluent today though. I think that's why she keeps switching from Korean to Japanese. Sakura was much like her during her Produce48 days but today speaks fluently with a tiny subtle Japanese accent. And you're right about Garam - she's literally practicing in the studio with everyone else but they completely edited her out like she was never born.

The documentary was released after Source Music ended thecontract with Garam (the 6th member), unlike Ruka who was still under contract under the company (later participating in Hybe's R U Next? project), Garam didn't under the management of Source Music, so they can't upload videos featuring her for legal reasons. The 5 girls have gone through many difficulties to continue pursuing their passion. This documentary is just one of the few things they show us. Not just because I'm a Fearnot, but I really love and admire LE SSERAFIM's passion and efforts.

when izone disbanded. hybe wanted to create a new girl group centered with former izone members. they wanted chaewon, sakura, minju who were also the most popular members in japan. chaewon was under a different company so hybe bought out her contract. sakura is already the biggest idol in japan but hybe offered her a contract and she accepted. minju declined the contract because she wanted to be an actress and signed a contract with a big acting agency.

17:55 I'm pretty sure Eunchae was already a trainee with their company, and they selected her. Promoted from within, if you will. So it wasn't like they just came up to a stranger getting lunch in a cafe or something. She was probably on break at their offices.

1:01:26 It is not their shared house. They went outside of Seoul for a workshop/final trip before their debut, so it shows the place where they stayed. That's why at 1:03:48 Yunjin said it's time to go back to reality and at 1:04:02, the manager said "I mentioned this to all of you at the WORKSHOP" when revealing who the leader is.

i’m just commenting as i watch but sakura and chaewon’s previous group is called iz*one (pronounced eyes-one) and they came out of a survival show where the top 12 winners became a group, and yunjin was a contestant too but she got eliminated. their contract was only for 2.5 years, so it was rly touching for us izone fans to see sakura and chaewon be on the same group again!

1:06:12 what the dance instructor is saying that it's okay if they already have a part down and just do a little worse because they're tired. But there are areas in which they are lacking, yet after multiple times of being corrected, they are still doing it the same way or even worse. Basically they need to make progress in the areas they are lacking otherwise it's a waste of time to practice at all.

Just to clarify a little the fact that Garam (the sixth member) wasn't in the documentary at all 'cause it did spark some controversy of course but realistically it didn't have anything to do with any malice intent, simply since her contract got terminated the agency doesn't own rights to her image anymore and most likely she personally didn't consent to any rights to appear in the documentary which is very understandable considering how hard that time was for her and how her image had already suffered enough from this whole story...but the thing is that they couldn't have included her even if they wanted to 'cause they probably could've been sued for it. On the other hand Haruka (the girl who got put aside from the team) this year actually took part into a survival\talent show for the formation of a new girl group still under Hybe and still trained under the company at the time the documentary was released.

Thanks a lot for reacting to LSFs documentary! I enjoyed watching it again with you. And seeing their efforts to bring a little bit of themselves in their music and how hard they worked to bring out so much energy in their performances since their debut album is just amazing. After a year and a half, they came out with three albums, an Asian tour, and with the Overwatch collab they were able to promote in US. And wow, I just realized that their dream to see LSF up on a Times Square billboard did happen!

This is a very well made doc, because they are literally showing you how cut throat and what these girls have to go through to get to debut. There is no guarantee and and there is no sympathy from anyone involved, because it is all business. Garam is a perfect example of that, really hope now that she is out of this cycle she can have a good life from all these toxicity. One thing I do find very annoying is that majority of people that watches the doc go on and on about Garam, is almost like they spent 90% about how she is missing in the doc, yet when the scandal and rumors were going on none of this people pay any attention or even care about her, now she's gone everyone is act like how horrible it is to cut her out, if she got that public support when she needed she wouldn't have need to leave the group. All those fake concerns still makes me vomit every time I read them on the comment sections. I have moved on since, so now I just try to ignore all of it.

Ah id like to comment that the thing about Ruka is very common. Idols have said this before but you never are actually sure if you're debuting until you stand on the stage and debut. You could be told you are then record, practice, ect but anything can happen. Which means you could go through a whole debut process but in the end not debut whether you are just back to being a trainee or move out of the company. Many many idols who have debuted could have debuted in other groups before but for various reasons didn't. It sucks but thats how the industry works. Also keep in mind it could be many reasons like for example one kid was taken out by his own parents bc they felt he was too young or sometimes the company doesn't think they're ready or a good fit for the final lineup.
@ebreshea
@ebreshea 8 ай бұрын
Yunjin even said that she has had moments in the past where she "thought it was going to happen" but that it never did. And that "this is [Haruka's] first time being a part of a debut team" - as if it wasn't Yunjin's first. So it may have happened to yunjin multiple times before or after pd48 where she got close to debuting but never did.

Diet culture is crazy in kpop. If not all, most idols are very underweight and in SK being overweight is like not overweight at all. Unless an idol has the freedom(?) to put on more weight then usually during comeback seasons they'll go on crazy diets and especially for a debut. You can look it up like certain idols diet plans are on the internet. I don't remember but I think mayne IUs was like an apple for breakfast and like a protein shake for dinner or something like that.

What happens is that when a scandal occurs with a member of a group, they do not mention it again and they remove it from the content already recorded due to the controversy where she appeared so as not to add fire to the wood, that is usually what companies do. Their narrative is very long. Sakura was active in Japan. A Korea-Japan joint public audition was held in Korea. That's Produce 48. There, Sakura and Chaewon worked as IZ*ONE. Yunjin was also a Produce 48 contestant. Unfortunately she was eliminated. In other words, to know their story, you have to watch the Produce 48 broadcast and IZ*ONE activities. For reference, IZ*ONE was a legendary girl group. The IZone members at that time have now become important core members of other teams. Or a solo singer, actor, etc. Knowing IZ*ONE is like knowing 30% of all current girl groups. What an impact and legacy.

50:00 For the weight thing, it could be the case of the company trying to make their idols "too skinny". But also, it could be that they are actually trying to "protect them"... korean netizens are sometimes super aggressive and will be vicious in criticizing idols for any reason. So if they see a member is gaining some weight... maybe they want to nip that in the bud so that it doesn't go any further and give knetz an excuse to attack them. Of course, their health is most important regardless.

Yeah ruka in the end didn’t fit the visual/narrative that Bang PD had in mind. Each member has at least one thing that connects them w their concept. Yunjin knows all bout the debut process because she was training with NJ before being let go because she didn’t fit the narrative their creator wanted for NJ which looking at them they are all much younger than Yunjin. I think she was let go in august of 2021? I can’t remember, but then she got a call from Bang PD when he found out she was let go from the NJ project. Just like Bang went down to the Netherlands to prove it wasn’t a prank to Zuha because she found out weirdly she was accepted. Also, Yunjin has bounced around training at a lot of different companies. From cube then Pledis where she went on Produce 48 as a trainee, then SM and then I forgot where esle. It’s how she knows different idols in other groups because she’s trained w them at some point. One of the reasons kkura signed w hybe instead of other companies is she only had one ☝️ thing she wanted which was not be the leader. Because they usually give the oldest that role and she didn’t want after experiencing how stressful it was when she was in HKT48 Team Units.
