Thats the observation i love too! And I’ll give you a comparitive Easter Egg. Go back to Hamilton, to Lin Manual Miranda rapping at the White House that he is writing a play about Treasury Secretary Alexander Hamilton. The moment when he says ‘Alexander Hamilton’ everyone, including the Obamas, laughs. However, years later at every performance this moment gets some of the loudest applause. The same moment happens with Ren and you caught it. So few reactors mention it.

Loved the commentary, and genuine reactions. Something that struck me when talking about worrying about not doing something original, as it's all been done before, it makes me think about the reactions to "Hi Ren". Like, reactions aren't "original" per se, but everyone sees something differently in his work depending on their own lives and life experiences, and the commentary can be so strikingly different, despite the similarities. I'm currently just so engrossed in watching how different people interpret the emotions raised with this piece, in particular, and how they respond when seeing it for the first time. Reinforces the message he weaves into a lot of his music to relay that despite our differences, beneath it all, we're inherently all the same. PS new sub here ❤

It's weird, you totally nailed how I think about reactions as a whole. The value is in the commentary and sharing. There is sooooo much from Ren for you to get into, Charlie! He sings, raps, and plays multiple instruments. Yes, a modern day bard is the perfect title for Ren! He also, with many of his rap songs, will flip it and do an acoustic version of it - sometimes riding in back of a bus, or sitting on a mountain plateau overlooking a city. Animal Flow is one of his rap songs he does an acousitc version of. Then Murderer is part singing and part rapping and he has a wonderful acoustic version of that one that is distincly different than the original. To the point I honestly love the acoustic version even more than the original! He did a cover of Bittersweet Symphony, and so much more! He also has some collabs with Chincilla - Chalk Outlines and How To Be Me are both hauntingly beautiful and emotional, with amazing harmonies too - both are live one take videos! He also has a band called The Big Push. I CANNOT WAIT for you to dive more into Ren! And Charlie - thank you, thank you, thank you for suggesting Floor and Nightwish to Nicole! I have come to the conclusion that the three REAL talents, the hypercreative artists, of my time are: The Beatles, Prince, and now Ren. I had given up on new music...and along came Ren. :)

I was hoping that you would catch that he didn't have a resolution at the end. He left us hanging, the resolution was his monologue. Thank you for not referring to this as a musical performance only, this was art. Thank you both for the great reaction.
@becbrown212Ай бұрын
For me the resolution is his vocalisation at the end of the song, cathartic, joyous, chaotic and a total release. There is never a true or lasting victory over evil or self doubt, its a slow acceptance of the dark spaces inside us and compassion for the goblin who is just scared and angry that leads us into peace.

Great reaction. Nicole is such a pro, it must have taken so much self control to hold her tongue and let you do a completely cold reaction. I've seen so many of these "Reactor introduces reactor to Ren" videos that are ruined because the original reactor (innocently) can't help giving away the juicy details up front. I really enjoyed this!

He has cultivated a unique following labelled “renegades” of all ages, race, gender, completely inclusive! His music is never going to be radio worthy as his music is a whole production of visual creativity, poetry, all facets of music. He is a true master. ❤️❤️❤️

I can't describe exactly what it is that connects with me. I very rarely cry, but still I had to shed a tear during some of Ren's songs. His music is so different, but also so incredibly special. A real talent of the century!

Hi Charlie This is my favorite reaction to "Hi Ren" I have watched hundreds of reactions to this song, but both of you wear your feelings outside your skin and you are so sensitive like a newly torn bandaid. I welcome you to the universe of Ren and to the fellowship of the Renegades. The best reaction videos comes from artists of all kind. My opinion is that, you artist are most in tune with your inner feelings, maybe because you shall show them through your art. By showing that in the videos, I do learn how to become a better person through watching Ren's music. May your sun warm your heart and all your troubles go away Henrik/Denmark

Loved the reaction so much! 💗. Welcome to the world of the man who has inspired so many. For vocals, his Fred Again Mashup and Back on 74/Message in a Bottle Retake show off some of his vocal abilities. (his composition plus a Ren original part in the middle on Back on 74). For societal issues, Sick Boi and the Money Game trilogy (part 2 lyric video is the only complete version). Part 3 is something to behold. (can be done separately). For raw, creative storytelling, Tales of Jenny and Screech Trilogy (the 13 minute video puts them all together, in the right order). This one should be done in one sitting.

Honest, sensitive, thoughtful, not too many pauses and you both can obviously appreciate one of the best pieces of Poetry/Music/Opera/performances/works of Art, of all time.... I have been with Ren for 3 years now, and it just doesnt stop....Of Ren I recommend Sick Boi, Hunger, Genesis, Suicide,Jenny & screech & Loosing it next for you 2... I'm 60+, & in my life only 2 other pieces of music have blown me away like this Queen- Bohemian Rhapsody and Childish Gambino -This is America, Neither of those artist did it over & over again like Ren will/does........Thanks you made my day

Next, shit gets heavy, very heavy. But, wait... The inevitable tears of relief when that man stands right the fuck up. Wrap it up with genuine joy, and most likely begin to make your own owl noises while shit grinning at the same time. Total natural dopamine. 🖤💜🖤

Well, self taught with a bachelors degree in contemporary musical production. . Ditto, Nicole's surprise was so unexpected and cool. I've seen singer/reactors come in on a harmony for a bar or two but not improvise a long harmonic run to the guitar.I tagged Ren to her Hi Ren on facebook. No comment or anything from him but he's got a legal issue with a producer, yet more health crisis and trying to rush a multi-part project through before he's to report back to his clinical care givers in Canada.

His music and lyrics have touched so many people. I’m so glad you didn’t cut the piece out about your friend’s struggles. People need to be seen, heard, respected and believed. I'm a 65-year-old musician (trombone, guitar, vocals) who has played in orchestras, jazz combos, folk clubs and rock bands since I was 9 years old--and Ren has been a "North Star" for me in the last year and a half. He has helped me "soften and relax" in regard to my battling inner voices. Now my focus has shifted more toward visual art, but the battling voices (and Ren''s inspiration) have followed me there as well. The word dissonance explains the attention getting spots in the guitar playing, in the falsetto oooh’s and also in the back and forth of the 2 Rens. You can hear it in the second half of every section of the song. It’s in the chromatics at the top the ooh’s melodies and also in the bends and syncopation of the guitar playing. This song should come with trigger warning, it feels like.

Cheeky Welsh Renegade here! 🏴✌️ I'm relatively new to reactions videos and I'm love bombing all over the place tbh. I've seen all sorts of people post their reactions. Some with several videos of Ren over the past year or so, since Hi Ren was released followed by Ren's 2023/24 number one UK album and title track Sick Boi. I've been busy scrolling through people's Ren content posts on you tube so I can watch them in order to that person's Ren journey. I learn so much from everyone and every post, from amazing people like yourselves, as opera singers, from therapists to voice coaches, from old metal heads to rappers. I love learning titbits from everyone and seeing all the love for Ren. Then once you learn of his painful struggles that still today plague him and put all his plans on hold breaks my heart. But seeing new, vibrant happy people touched by Ren's words and his lyrics, his magic, as there are many of us whose voices now are heard and as he speaks up for all chronic illness warriors and unseen disabilities interwoven with some absolute belter tunes and sic lyrics making Ren's album claim the no. 1 Uk album of the year in October 2023. Looking forward to seeing you watch more as I feel your reactions have captured the piece, not the bars or cadence, well maybe cadence esp as your field is Operatic. But just Ren's crazy lyrics and a web of notes that draw you in. I look forward to seeing you in another video down the rabbit hole again soon. Next; The tale of Jenny. Screech's tale. Violets tale. In that order, in one video. Stop and chat as often as you want, we love that bit as much as the rest. We are the opposite of every other fan base who says shut up and play the song. The Renegades want to hear you to. So, pause the tunes, have a chat, surmise, talk, relish, love and enjoy. We love those bits to. To see your faces and know. When we see how it affects you it reminds us how we felt at the same moments. We feel the afterglow that we now know is waking up and getting through everyday life but with Ren now in your head so living away rent free and life feels a lot better for it. I suffer both physically and mentally and hearing Ren sing about my quirks mde me feel seen. To know he knows what I, what we go through is bigger than I can explain, its deeper than I can describe. So in the meantime, we sing and we dance to the beat of Ren's drum!! Keep the Ren tunes coming... Love from a slightly addicted to Ren fan aged 54f! ✨🥰✨ 🏴✨

Lovely authentic reaction! One minor point : the video is not one take. It was recorded live. The first couple of takes the sound messed up. They managed 4 good takes in the time they were allowed to be there. The landlord kicked them out as they didn't have permission and they were making too much noise after dark. Ren didn't think they had enough footage to get the video made and there was no chance to get more takes as he was moving to Canada for medical treatment soon after. Somehow he managed to piece together this masterpiece. I believe the sound was from one take, but if you watch closely you'll see minor continuity errors in the gown and lav mic.
