Run 8 Train Simulator: Barstow to Los Angeles | Cajon Pass | Derailment, Hot Box and DPU Failure!

Today I'm playing Run 8 and driving a 12,700 ton train from Barstow Yard to Los Angeles LAJ-A yard. I've condensed the video by removing the most boring parts. Let me know in the comments if you like it this way or prefer the full trip.

It's great to hear you say that! Whenever I watch other people play Run8, the horns are always WAY too loud. I decided not to use them, but I wasn't sure if people would like that or be upset. Thanks for letting me know you like it!

Are the hotboxes and DPU failures randomly generated or user controlled?

They are randomly generated. It’s common for the DPU’s to briefly loose communication for a few seconds, especially when going through tunnels. Once in a while it will completely fail and then you have to stop and fix it. Hotboxes you just need to stop and let the train cool down. In my case I had a car with brakes not fully releasing so I cut the air out on that car.

@@StaleNinja In regards to the hotbox, yes. For DPU's, if your DPU communication completely fails, you have to come to a complete stop, put the reverser in neutral, reduce the brake pipe at least 20 psi and then you will see comms reestablish on the MFD display.
