I remember watching him perform at a bar on Woodbine Avenue just North of Steels in Markham. Just an amazing singer. This music reminds me of some pretty wild days in cottage country in the eighties.

This is a great song and I love how this video captures the energy of the live performance. I have the album. It was given to me by a Canadian friend. We traded David Wilcoxes. The thing I want to say is that the American David Wilcox is not lame. He's one of my all time fave folk singers. But he is a folk singer. This David Wilcox is a rocker, down to the tips of his toes. I love them both and I would never dare to compare them. It's not even necessary.
@jojobobo32116 жыл бұрын
Dave should get a whole shit load of Junos! The thing is, he's not dead, he's still rocking and he's still recording new material, so he doesn't qualify for any "Lifetime Achievement" type of award. It will be a hell of a shame if all he gets is some post humus award when he's gone... he deserves a lot more than that - he really is a treasure!!

Enigmatic,Honest,Unique & Relentless; Only an "Act of God" or the inevitable course of nature cessation of all vitals will stop Mr. Wilcox from performing. David has entertained scores of individual fans, countless shows, over even more toasts of draft beer pitchers. Like a free spirited, lighter side emphasis Doppelganger to Canadian Countrymen N.Young & G.Lightfoot,; he has carried out the Timeless Troubadour Tradition: Telling Tales, Painting Smiles & Providing Indelible Good-Time Memories.

Saw him quite recently in Hamilton, Ontario - Absolutely tremendous show. Upset that he didn't do the bearcat, so to speak, but he made up for it with an immaculate rendition of the above listed song. In fact, the only terrible part of the night was when he was followed by uuuuuuuuuuugh Kim Mitchell.

An energetic entertainer. Fine to tap your feet or dance to for a while. No comparison to the American D. Wilcox, however, when it come to musical & poetic talent. This guy is mere meat & potatoes as opposed to a gourmet meal. Good for the musically challenged average Joe type who simply cannot grasp the depth of the American Dave W's artistic creations.

As great as these videos are, it would be great if someone could dredge up some footage of his younger days in the late 1970's-1980's when he was at his energetic peak. He held almost every Southern Ontario Bar's Alcohol Sales Record! People used to schedule their plans, vacations, even weddings! around his appearances at local bars/ clubs/festivals/hockey arenas/private parties, etc. Such was, and still is [ to a lesser extent ] his influence over a fanatical fan base. A true original.

For one thing, this explains why I was a little confused the first time I heard the "folkie" guy, as I'd heard this one first. But frankly, this song is not much different than the other DW, in attitude or lyrics. It's just electric. I like 'em both. Why the hating?
@lisa-ie9nu3 жыл бұрын
When I first started going to concerts as a kid I was so disappointed I'd listen to a album and then see them live and it was a huge disappointment there was fireworks and lasers but none of the bands sounded good live and then I seen David Wilcox no special effects just talent over the years I've must have seen him 10 to 15 times and he was always amazing even the times when he really wasted they propped him in a chair to play because he couldn't sit up let alone stand still but was a amazing show
@psychonaut3317 жыл бұрын
was this at showplace theatre? If so i was there!
@nancyh.carroll132610 жыл бұрын
I don't understand why one person needs to criticize the other David Wilcox from the states because he has the same name. Is that necessary? If anyone knows anything about the "other" Wilcox they will certainly know that he is the far, far from lame. If fact, he has more depth to his soul then any other singer songwriter out there.
