I found that this move, along with helix, were easy if you learned one of them. Once you get the feel of the balisong flipping, it gets easier. Also, the final part with the zen rollover I had trouble swinging the blade away to prevent it from crashing into my finger. A solution to this is not to jerk the blade away, but to flow with gravity and let it swoop away. This makes it much easier and more fluid.

Absolutely the BEST tutorials! The camera angles, the way he starts from beginning everytime is brilliant. Clear and concise. I could not for the life of me figure this trick out. Watched this and I can now finally do it! Also figured out from that 3rd position to continually keep rolling over and over always ending in that open grasp with the bite handle and blade down. Its like it just kinda clicked. Once i figured out to roll the wrist and keep the blade horizontal it started rolling way better. I still struggle with rolling the first half spin into the 1st thumb roll. Its stutters at that 1st half turn.

If you're a noob like me (two weeks) the progression is figure 8-> wrist pass-> Y2K-> zen rollover-> and zero G chaplin helps. Naturally you should follow all of the Big Flips tutorials but learning these helped the most. If you practice once a night, it'll take a few days to get the 8 ball consistent.

Hey, if you learn Helix before this, you will have a much easier time learning the trick. My strategy is: 1. Watch the slow-mo some times to get the idea in my mind 2. I start doing the trick but with pauses between the transitions between the rollovers to get the feeling of it 3. After doing the pauses, I just start trying to make the whole trick, try after try and some time it just happens, but don’t stop, continue doing it so you become comfortable.😁 I hope my advice helps you!🙂

@@69isfunny32 my advice is to just stick to it and GO SLOW at first. Also if youre not already do this,7 tape the edge with regular scotch tape so you dont slice your fingers or hands. Itll be tough to find the rate of speed and friction to lock your finger in that joint/hinge but once you get that feeling just go slow and take breaks in between every couple of tries. I got frustrated and actually didnt even attempt it for a few months before i decided to try it one day and i got it after my 4-5 attempt. He clearly explains it at 2:36, however learning the Chaplin would help greatly for understanding what kind of motion would help to get that roll over consistent. This transition is rather difficult I've found and is the hardest part of the entire trick. Though, this can change with the person and what knife they're using. I'm currently waiting for my second balisong but my current one is extremely heavy (8 oz), so the transition is extremely difficult for me to land.
