So almost all of the weird creatures are based on fae (or faeries) which are often seen in mythology to be tricksters and be a nuisance to humans. Some being very malicious. Fae actually are said to not be able to touch iron, which is why the hiking guide mentions an iron sword, it is the most efficient weapon for self defense.

I don’t believe in any kind of entities (except for the possibility of some unexplained phenomena having cause outside of the mind) myself, but fae are one of the main reasons many magic practitioners keep a steel knife of some kind in their kit, as well as for protection in case they are attacked by basically any kind of malicious entity. Lots of them can’t deal with iron. I was playing with the idea of iron and religious iconography being mostly to completely useless against demons in a project I have.

53:08 I also wondered what’s with Whiskers here? It seems Whiskers belonged to the lady Wanda called the previous day as she mentioned. She had termites problem and on the termite page it says it’s highly advised to let HSH team deal with termites. I wonder whether it’s implied here that Whiskers is brought here after HSH visited Wanda? It seems unlikely that the creator just mentioned the same cat name twice so closely. I love that in the game HSH(ancient fairies?)’s intentions are unclear as they seem pretty indifferent to humans suffering (based on many of the passive solutions). Maybe there are something more sinister going on behind them using this company as reason to enter human homes, or maybe they just loved the cat and stole him who knows (on the mole page they specifically warned about not to kill moles, maybe they have connections with moles and maybe other animals) (Although in a play through when Wanda got a wrong answer this would be conflicted)

Needless to say, the beginning of this gave me some very strong flashbacks to the days of having to work on reports but barely being able to get anything done bc I had to answer a phone call every 2 minutes 😂😂

I had a pet rat named Lukey when I was a kid. He was a ghastly thing to everyone in the neighborhood. Large, coarse black hair, literally looked like a sewer rat. But he was so nice, never bit anyone, and was a great pet I’ll never forget. When you mentioned mice as pets I went “whaaaaaaat? My time to shine?” Cause it’s such a random thing 😂

I have a fear of dogs because of a story my friend told me. He was like seven and lived in a trailer park. His grandma lived a block away, so he often walked to her house. One night around 8pm he was walking when a small dog (know that I think about it he never told me what it looked like) bit his pant leg. Every time he tugged on his leg the dog bit his leg and continued to lead him away. He thought the dog was just trying to show him something, like a special needs dog leading him to their owner Or something like that. It led him to a creek maybe a block away, and brought him to a loft he dog, then finally looked up and starred at him. He didn't know what to do so he tried comforting him by petting him. The dog barked at him rapidly and then bit his finger. The dog wouldn't let go and he had to pry its mouth open and run. It didn't chase him though, so he turned around to see the dog was gone. Apparently in a local news website, the dog had been found drowned in the creek. Every time he visits his family's house, his dog gets scared when he's around it. Pretty strange Edit: it was a mix between a Weiner dog and a shepherd of some sort

We had rats when I was in my 20s. Such cleanly, sweet lil dudes. They had a shallow dish I'd put in their enclosure for the to move trash into so I could remove it every night, and they used it! No training! I loved making them little salads every day, making playgrounds out of boxes and wood scraps, and just watching TV with them chilling on me, getting pets, preening my hair. Even my cats liked em, and not in an "Oooh! Food!" way. My youngest cat decided they were her kittens and she'd groom them sometimes, and every morning she'd come into the room their enclosure was in, poke her nose through the bars, and give each of the boys nose boops. They also liked riding around on my dogs backs like a bunch of baby opossums. The dogs walked slowly so they didn't fall off. It was funny how these animals that would normally be predators to them thought they were just their lil siblings, and were accommodating to them. I miss them, but having to say goodbye only 3-5 years after adopting them hurt too much to continue keeping them. I'd get too attached. This game is SO fascinating. I want a book listing all the creatures and exploring the world this is set in. Y'know, like those fairy and dragon encyclopedias from the 90s? This is just such a neat world, I need all the lore. Like, they do take stuff from old folklore and put it in in such a genius way. The developers did a amazing job with such a simple premise. And having all the people voiced is so cool.

Okay so just to clear some stuff up and help people who may want to play this game, at 47:31 he refers to a moment when he thought he still had a system error/network outage and couldn’t see things information. That’s actually not true, you only get the outage for one call but it will still look like it’s out until you refresh by looking at different information (or maybe you can click the same one again, I’m not sure. I never played this game but I watched a vod someone else did of it). Also for the problem the person was actually dealing with, the bowl of cream is sort of a hint. See, he ignored the advice because he thought it was a joke, but it’s actually how you keep a common hobb from metamorphosising. He ignored this information and now the hobb he had turned into a boggart and he put his family in danger by not trusting their advice. Boggarts are known to cause power outages, which is something he mentioned near the end of the call. Hope this helps!

48:40 he says he thinks you get a network outage if you take too long. This is not true actually, as far as I know you have no time limit whatsoever so it pretty much “pauses” the “reality” inside the game while the player checks information. So keep in mind that you have all the time you need, don’t rush and make sure you read through everything it could be so you don’t accidentally send the wrong information. Remember that pretty much every clue that they give you is relevant to their issue, don’t skip over anything.

Sorry for the many comments today lol I just really liked this game! It’s such a great choice to introduce supernatural creatures into our daily life like this, makes them seem more real and in some cases scarier too! The calls offer us a perspective of how normal people (like ourselves!) are actually affected by these supernatural forces without knowing. In some cases it’s also really heartbreaking or scary to witness how powerless people are in front of these existences. The woman who lost her child, the man who forever lost memory of his late wife and the guy consumed by Boggart being the most unforgettable cases. It’s also a great touch to me that all the Hobbs seem to be cute and helpful little guys, but could turn into terrifying Boggart any day, and there’s no way to remove them. In a lot other cases too, you could only live with/tolerate/avoid these creatures, abandon your home or accept the loss they caused. On the other hand, it’s also a refreshing concept in supernatural horror that humans have to learn how to live with the supernatural entities. Of course that’s because we’re standing on the side of the fairies in this game and that’s how they see these things (they apparently don’t care about or understand human emotions that much). But also yeah, do we have to get rid of everything if we can actually live with them? The emails, coupons and videos are just the perfect addition to this size of a game too! Creating so many interesting narratives in its short length. As someone who loves both SCP and Gemini Home Entertainment (the creator mentioned it in the artbook too!) and love reading texts in games (lol) this game is just perfect! I can’t help but wanting to know more of this world after the game ended.

i think i figured out what 43:07 was it was teh god forsakened boggart the reason i think this is because he has giving the inscructions to deal with a common hogg (put a bowl of cream or milk out) and when threatened hoggs metamorph into boggarts (as the boggart's description says)

That's actually normal here in the US, yes. Most houses have equal to if not more bathrooms than they have bedrooms, mostly so if you're in the part of the house the bathroom is in you can get to it and so there is never anyone who lives there who can't use the bathroom.

9:00 personally i have not had a pet mouse or any pet tbh BUT there was this one time when i was 8. I was palying in the backyard and found a little mouse and my goofy brain said "pet it now" and i did and it bit me and was stuck to my hand so i kept shaking my hand until it flew past the gate about 15 feet away fun experience. :)

This is the only game I've EVER gotten frustrated seeing you play, but only because you placed a time limit on yourself! You do not have a time limit to review entries in the regular story mode at all. Take that time to read every entry, and look for every clue you can in calls. Many of the calls have red herrings in them.
