Loan/rent Fred out as a heifer bull. You don't want a heifer giving birth to a large calf anyhow. Most ranchers don't want to keep their own heifer bull.

Save Fred from being butchered,he's so cute! Hope his balls grow, poor guy but so lucky to have been born on yalls place! The love yall have for your animals is priceless. I've followed your family on the last frontier, and I'm a big fan....I had great parents who were raised on ranches,so it's in their bloodline to raise us kids the same. I live in southern New Mexico on 4 acres, and I have had all farm animals and 4 kids. I still live on the small acreage, but the animals and kids are grown up and have family of their own. Nothing beats living on land what the Lord has Givin us! Great video you 2!

When I had my ranch in New Mexico I would calve in February. My cows would always pick the coldest night and usually around 1 to 3:00 a.m. I would wake up to hearing the bawling sound of a Hereford trying to calve and have to get dressed and put on all my cold weather gear and go out there in the middle of the night to help a heifer calve her calf. Of course you always got goo all over you. But seeing the calf come out and the eyes blinking and then watch it try to get up and stumble around trying to figure out how to get milk made all of it worth it. I so miss that life. Hey Otto would you be willing to adopt a 62 year old retired person?

We’ve been raising cattle all of our lives and an easy tip of drafting calves onto cows, whether they are onto their own mother or a completely different cow, is to do exactly as you did at the beginning but each time give the cow a jab of oxytocin, which will not only let the cows milk down but is also the “mothering” hormone. We find if we do this twice a day for a few days they’ve normally bonded within three or four days, but can take up to seven. If it doesn’t happen by then, it generally isn’t going to. We have also kept a couple of “pet” bulls over the years for different reasons, but always keep in mind that these are probably the most dangerous animals on the property, and it’s not because they’re aggressive, but the fact that they can often be extremely affectionate and when you are in close quarters with them in the yards etc, they can have you baled up again railings or fences without meaning to, but not understanding their own size and strength. Just something to be aware of when making the decision to keep a bull. One last thing, Fred may be below average size now, but if you do keep him he will more than likely eventually grow out to a normal full size bull, it just may take a bit longer. Thanks for your content, it was the first time I’ve come across your channel, I look forward to seeing more.
