You scored! Those first bags were especially interesting! I’m new to this world. I wanted to make a beaded curtain, 9 feet long of various materials, shapes and sizes so I bought a Mercari Lot from a woman in AZ who had received 26 pounds from a friend and she mixed exerything together into thirteen 2 pound bags. I need 270 feet of beads so I thought this would be a good start. I paid $22. I don’t think she knew how much these are actually worth. There’s glass, wood, crystal, shell, plastic, ceramic, metal and stone. I’m still sorting through them & learning about my haul from you. It’s so fun! I’m like addicted to organizing them now & want to do way more projects than just the curtain. I’m totally subscribing

You got the haul of the year in this purchase. I love going out shopping for beads but I am disabled now and our neighborhood bead shop closed due to c-19 . while we have a lot of Michaels and a Jo-anns here they don't have the exotics beads I crave . I never thought of buying beads through Mercari Thank you for sharing your haul with us I am living vicariously through you ,

The silver items that need repair won't be that hard to repair. Check with a local jewelers shop to see if they do jewelry repair, most of them do. We have a local jeweler that repaired my Mom's white-gold wedding ring and only charged her $50 for it. I'm going to take my class ring to him, it needs the gothic letter in the sapphire to be redone in gold, and then it needs re-lacquering. Anyway, if you can't find a jeweler that will do it for a reasonable amount, try an electronics repairman--they do all sorts of soldering and might give it a try. You never know! What a cool haul!

In the 2nd bag if she got the turquoise in Nepal it would be Chinese turquoise. It tends towards a green colour. It would be real. The blue pendant that you thought was glass looks like Chalcedony to me. Crystal drops look like Preciosa. I have some of those.

I just spent $4,300 on topping up my gemstone beads & cabochons, and sterling silver and solid 9k gold findings ... and there really wasn't that much weight to it when it arrived!! I've barely noticed an increase to my well-organised bead trays!! But I got free shipping on almost all of it, coming from all over the world. So that was a very nice haul you have there!! I hope you have many great experiences with it : ) Love your channel XX

Wow what an epic find and video, I started watching last night and have just finished. I love getting bead and Findings soups and sorting through them, I get a lot from Spoilt Rotten beads, it's a great way to get the newer beads and try them out before you buy a load that you'll never use. Really lovely beads

The big bead at 4:29 is a handmade clay Buddha bead with 24K gold leaf applied to it, so it will need its own bag or box to protect it. The pressed image is Buddha. Wipe clean with a dry cloth. They're made in Thailand and cost $3-$5 each. I think the beads at 4:30 are made from Bodhi seeds.

24:24 is amazonite;-) , also the deep red beads you kept finding may be Ruby (from the corundum family of stones)that may be heat treated or lab created but still beautiful. Maybe real corundum;-) which is also where sapphire comes from. You scored big friend! I’m only 27 minutes in! Love love love your hauls! The India glass I have is the solid color. Not striated. Some India glass is opal style glass, but most India glass has chalky bead release in the holes, and they are not finished on the ends. Very irregular. The large lamp work glass bead you said was your favorite, is made with base of ivory glass that has silver foil over it. Then there is clear aqua blue overlaid in sections.The silver is then also fumed onto the ivory to give it all of the dark lines. The chemical reaction between the ivory glass and the silver makes the swirls and lines.

At about 2:47 where she mentioned that acetate would remove the paint off of crackle beads, would this also work to remove the coating on old glass pearls that the coating is coming off anyways? Also can these same beads be colored with alcohol inks or something similar to replace the coating that was removed, so I could use the beads for something? Or should I just trash them? Anyone that knows can answer please. Thank you in advance. Take care and God bless you and yours. Sincerely Becky B from Arkansas

The strands of freshwater pearls at 1:30 aren't worth $350. I suspect it was a multi strand necklace that had a 14K clasp and someone cut it off. The pearls are knotted in between, so that's what tells me it was a necklace and not strands of pearls for sale. An amazing haul!!
@sftraub2 жыл бұрын
Some of the first bag look like Tibetan/Nepalese turquoise then some African and middle eastern items. It’s not all Nepalese. The less refined items would be Middle Eastern tribal stuff. The bead that looks like an hourglass is an African design, modern, not vintage and made for commercial sale. Beads between are most likely brass that’s patinated and some kind of silver but not sterling unless marked. I see open seams and lesser refinement so it’s most likely made for the fashion market and not collected from tribal sources. It’s not high end craftsmanship and not very old. The old stuff has excellent hand crafted refinement and detail. These first couple of bags are produced in modern times for commercial sale most likely Chinese and other imports for sale here in the fashion and craft markets. The first faceted rectangle hot pink beads are regular quartz that’s faceted and dyed pink.
