Delhi is a massive shock for most foreigner tourists and hence a lot of people, including me make some big travel mistakes. Which is not strange as it's one of the most intense cities in the world for travel. The heat, the crowds and an overload on things you've never seen before can easily wear you out and give you a bad impression of the city. On top of that it's a city where you should definitely enjoy but also be very vigilant.
Despite making big travel mistakes myself, I keep coming back to Delhi because it's is one of the greatest places for adventure and food in the world. Therefore I love to show the true beauty of Delhi to foreigner tourists by helping them avoid the biggest mistakes and travel the city, like I did in the top things to do in Delhi guide. This video is linked in the description below. In addition to that there are truly some massive travel mistakes foreigner tourists make which might ruin their trip to Delhi. I hope this video helps you to avoid the biggest Delhi travel mistakes if you're planning on visiting Delhi. If you know someone who's visiting Delhi please also share this video with them so they can also avoid the biggest Delhi travel mistakes.

Travel Vlog Iv is a travel and food video channel. I'm Ivana, nice to meet you! You'll find travel and food videos on this channel because I like to take you along while exploring the world. These videos hopefully make you excited to travel and eat food around the world as well. There's such a joy in getting out of your comfort zone and growing as human being by traveling to new places and eating delicious food you've never tasted before.
I'm currently based in Bangalore because India is my favourite country in the world. Travel in India is kind of my thing but I've been al over the world. Just check these playlists to begin your journey with me: bit.ly/2l4sMk4
FAQ's:
Q Where are you from?
A I am born in former Yugoslavia. Mom is Serbian, Dad is Bosnian. During the '90's war we came to the Netherlands and I got Dutch nationality. I've lived in Amsterdam for 8 years but lost my heart to India. Since 2018 I'm based in Bangalore. See this video for my refugee story: bit.ly/2l17T9h
Q How can you afford to travel so much?
A I saved for 3 years while working full time and now travel vlogging is my job. I work together with tourism agencies but also do some freelance work on the side. You can watch this video: • HOW TO TRAVEL THE WORL... and this one: • HOW TO SAVE MONEY FOR ... to learn more about my story.
Q What camera do you film with and what editing software do you use?
A Canon G7X Mark II and Final Cut Pro X
Q (Why) Are you vegetarian?
A I'm vegetarian but not strict. I don't eat any meat, fish, cooked/boiled or fried eggs. I gradually became a vegetarian over the course of 15 years because I disliked the taste of meat more and more. After doing a yoga teacher training in 2015 I also quit fish and the eggs. No matter my food preferences I have no issues with other people not being vegetarian. I don't judge others and kind of expect the same favor from others concerning my own food preferences. It makes for a more friendly world :-)
Q Why do you usually travel alone?
A Because my friends have jobs with limited holidays, kids and partners. Also I really like exploring on my own.
Q Why do you love India so much?

Bob Singh “Common sense” Lol you sure can use some if you are denying the fact that India has a high rate of rape and reported stories about women especially travelers going missing. The cows in India are safer than the women. Since you have the time to watch this video why don’t you use some of that time to gain some knowledge and look up what really goes on in your own country before replying to my comment lol

@THE LEGEND OF UNIVERSE That was my experience living in Bhogel and basing myself more on things south of there. I very rarely go north of there these days. I just like meeting people and living a simple Delhi life. Being a regular in the local shops, walking down the street and having chats to friends etc... I am integrated and sometimes even forget I'm Australian. I didn't like Delhi before, as a tourist, but now I've had a glimpse of the real Delhi, I love it. Problem though. Immigration gave me a hard time for not travelling this time. Wanted to know why I stayed in Delhi so long. They didn't understand it takes a long time to experience the city properly, like a local. They were suspicious of someone who didn't do all the touristy things. But I travel for the people and culture. And Delhi is a very special place. What can I say?
@prajaymadhavan
@prajaymadhavan 4 жыл бұрын
The best way to find out how the place looks is by google maps photos. Just zoom into any area in Delhi and check for the photos posted by people. That is almost a true representation as it is mostly posted by local people. Those images show the real Delhi. But if you ask any person from Delhi, they will swear that the place is a heaven.

I cant agree more. I'm from Kochi, now living in Bangalore. When I went to Delhi, I saw cycle rickshaws for the first time. I thought they were already banned in India, but not in Delhi. And the smog and pollution was really intense. Add to that the huge number of slums and poverty. May be 20% of the area is clean and organized, and that is where the embassies are located and the politicians live.
@80priyam
@80priyam 4 жыл бұрын
I am sure you must have idea about the diversity in delhi and also about population.... You can find people from all over the world in Delhi... it's polluted because it's over crowded Most of the people are migrated from other states to Delhi. And when it comes to do something for city they just think about there own comfort....

The only filthy part of Delhi is the old Delhi. Delhi has the poshest places in India, plus the best roads in India. Delhi is also home to the richest people in India after Mumbai and is also the richest city in India after Mumbai. 55% of Mumbai lives in slums whereas poverty is only 5% in Delhi. Look at the stats.
@prajaymadhavan
@prajaymadhavan 2 жыл бұрын
@@addyevolution Old Delhi holds about 90% of the population of Delhi and that is where the most of the filthy areas are. So overall in delhi state, 10% of the population (New Delhi) have decent living condition. The rest have abysmal way of life. For the richest people, nothing matters anywhere. The question is how an average wage earner (Auto driver, school teacher, and the likes) lives there. Just because few percentage of the population is rich, doesn't make the overall population lead a comfortable life.
@addyevolution
@addyevolution 2 жыл бұрын
@@prajaymadhavan Maximum delhites live in West Delhi. I have lived all my life in South Delhi. Population of old Delhi is around 1 crore and the population of rest of Delhi is around 1.5 crore. According to the latest census 5% of Delhi lives below poverty line. Delhi has the best roads, best girls, best infrastructure , best food, best transport facilities etc. But yes there is pollution in the months of November and december due to stubble burning in the adjacent states of Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana. And yes cycle rickshaws exists in a lot of states, but in Delhi, cycle rickshaws are allowed only in certain areas.

What to wear, where to Wear, LIVING BY THE RULES. Not Counting Old Delhi as Delhi. (It's actually the worst part of Delhi for locals living in more upscale areas). I must have been there once in my 32 years. LOVE Khan Market!. I can't help but laud this Vlog for being SO ACCURATE and precise. As regards upscale food - i can definitely second to visiting The Cube at Leela Palace hotel (appears in last minute or so). Stayed there couple of times, and the food is awesome there. Even the Italian dishes (should you wana have something other than Indian) were spot on (EU traveler reporting)

As a guy I have been on the streets of Kolkata wearing shorts but when I had visited old Delhi I don't know why I got a creepy look by the locals. Yeah you are right on that point that Delhi's street food is the best.

As someone from Kerala, who has stayed in Delhi and the North for a long time, love your videos on India. I would add a bit of my comments too. Don't go out unnecessarily in Delhi from May to July bcoz of the extreme heat. Its around 45 deg C during those days. Also, Khan Market in extremely expensive. Sarojini Nagar or Lajpat Nagar markets are reasonable and offer large variety of everything. And Delhi police is can be extremely nice (my personal experience) or may not be too. Yes its important to be careful in Delhi because criminals can easy escape to UP or Haryana that border Delhi.
