Well said. So So often it is the stupid humans who just have to frack with the critter who is just going about his business. Many times the critter even see's the stupid human but still prefers to just go about his business hoping the stupid human will just do the same. Here we have a smart human who knows he will have the experience of a lifetime seeing this huge and beautiful but deadly viper just by keeping at a distance safe for both parties He drove up in that jeep yet you don't even hear a rattle out of that monster..everyone goes home healthy.
@granbordeaux69553 жыл бұрын
Coiling doesn't hurt the snake.. they do it everytime they sleep and eat. When they're staying out of the sun in the shade.. usually coiled. An agitated snake isn't going to dart between your legs right quick.. it's safer.. If you're close to the snake.. for him to be in a defensive posture - rather than a traveling posture. If you're not touching the snake no harm done.

I was deer hunting from a ground blind during California's archery season in the early 2000's. I was on a rocky hillside leaning back against my backpack watching an old apple orchard on an abandoned mountain ranch. I turned my head to the right to view one of my hunting pards about 60 yards away. As my head rotated right, I picked up movement out of the corner of my right eye. I slowly rotated my head further right and was looking eye to eye with a rattlesnake, about 12 to 14 inches away. Apparently it had crawled up to me on its way to the orchard where there was an abundance of ground squirrels. The movement I had caught from the corner of my eye was the snake arching his body in reaction to my head's movement. Its eyes were milky looking, as though it was about to shed. Recognizing that, I knew that it might strike with little or no provocation, so I very slowly moved my right hand to a position between my head and the snake's head. I laid my bow down with my left hand and moved my legs into a position from which I could best roll away from the snake. I was able to get to my feet as it began rattling and crawling toward me, head up and rattling. I pinned it to the ground with a broadhead through a thick part of its body about one foot behind its head. It continued rattling and began writhing around the arrow. I could not focus on the hunt any more, but I remained where I was until darkness began to set in. Unwilling to wait for full dark to walk back to the road through the knee high wild oats, I quietly stood up and caught the attention of my pard to my right. He started my way and signaled to his brother and they moved quietly to my location. I picked the snake up with the arrow I had shot it with and held it up as they got close. In order to get the tail of the snake off the ground, I had to raise the arrow as high as my head. I'm 6' 5" tall. With the arrow head high and a foot of snake on one side of the arrow, that would make the snake at least 7 feet long, maybe more. In the falling darkness as we walked through the wild oats toward the road, one of the guys with me stepped on a rattlesnake, which started rattling, and caused him to jump and head out for the road at a fast walk. We fell in behind him and left the orchard to the snakes.

I was walking a 20 acre parcel in East Texas near Palestine in timber just like this. We were trying to determine its fitness for a plant site. The owners said they'd never seen a rattler there, though the area was reputed to be home to some big Timber Rattlers. I hadn't been out of my truck 5 minutes before I heard that slowly accelerating tick, tick, tick, that lets you know you're getting close and they're about to go full buzz. It was a beauty (black tail), though no where near as big or fat as this one. A local told me he'd once found one in his 3 year old daughter's bedroom and they had no idea how it got in. In my area of California, the timber rattlers are no where near this big. Thanks for a great video...

A neighbor ran over a small rattlesnake, he thought it was dead and picked it up. Big mistake he was bit 2 time's he stopped breathing 2xs but he lived. I lived in Florida for many years. I found an Eastern diamondback really close to this one's size. He was too close to the house. Whacked him, skinned him, displayed the skin. Killed a coral snake once. Also too close to the house. Killed a moccasin or two. I encountered many snakes that I did not feel the need to kill, but I have no regret about killing that few. A snake that size can and will kill any human that stumbles onto it.

One can never be too careful! I almost stepped on a rattlesnake in early March in Southern California next to a small wooded citrus orchard in a hilly grassy area. I walked literally right over it!

Been a outdoorsman my entire life. I live here in FL, born and raised. I hunt, fish,hike,camp everything out here in these woods and swamps. I've two boys I've raised with a love and respect for our unique ecosystem. We've eaten various things while outdoors including snake (various types). Here's the thing though. You don't kill just to kill. Those snakes, gators and different predators are very important to maintaining a balance here. Have someone teach you how to deal and handle those creatures or just leave them the hell alone all together. Furthermore if anyone can't have a respect and understanding of how their environment works, well then you probably should just remain indoors.

Did the camera man say where he was did he show a video of the surrounding area?? If I didn’t know any better I could say that looks exactly like my backyard my grandparents backyard all my neighbors backyard for the next 60 -1000 miles. When it comes to snakes like that I’m looking out for the next person that could get hit by that snake. You had a snake that got away after u tried to shoot it but u happen to graze it’s back and three days late a husband rushes his wife to the hospital after she got bit only to see a pic of the snake after he killed it and realized that was the same one u didn’t kill days before. Mrs. Mary lost her leg behind that

Dendroaspis Polylepis cool black mamba in your pic. Is it yours? I agree, killing snakes is just senseless!

Dendroaspis Polylepis who said he let it live lol

Dendroaspis Polylepis no I was joking around with my comments. That was a monster but it wasn't bothering nobody just hunting for food I guess. I would have went the other direction. Chances are he or she has brothers and sisters and their of similar size. I don't fool with snakes Lol

Josey Wales Definitely cool in a photo but, being chased by one in real life might change your mind on how...cool they are. 😂 😎 I'd sooner muck with a Cobra

Water moccasins (cotton mouths) will chase you. I had one chase me and my dad in a TRACTOR as a kid.

Massive snake. Biggest rattler I’ve ever seen in person or on live camera. If I hunted these woods it would have been hard for me not to have taken this snake. A snake that size would probably break your leg if it struck you. But it’s your land, do as you see fit brother. Good luck on your future hunts. Be safe out there. God bless

Holy shit! I don't know where you shot this but man...all that green foliage contrasted with that monstrous viper...pretty striking. And totally terrifying. I would so not wanna run into that thing in the woods. Cheers!

@doyscott63296 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure where your idea of me being fat comes from. Probably your own insecurities of being a bit thick yourself. What worked well for us was kill the killer before it killed you or your animals. So, you live in your panty world bitch, and I will stay in mine. That way your happy, and I'm happy. Unless you're a bitch that's got to have the last word,

Boy howdy! Kill everyone you find. Plenty of others out there to eat the rats. Those will do us no harm if we or our toddlers happen to walk up on one.

Yes Ma'am. If you insist. Kill them all.
