How exactly ? Can you explain ? What is it that you "no longer recognise" about Whitechapel ?
@roseoconnor59388 ай бұрын
The last 500 yards of this feature is actually Stepney Green. I lived here with my husband and three sons for 46 years. We saw the gradual decline of the whole of Tower Hamlets area ( which includes Whitechapel) from the late 70s. 😢

I worked 30 years ago on Whitehorse lane in a pine carpenters , it was last of dieing trade in that area. Comprising it were 10 posh yuppies behind high security barriers, 15 odd cockneys left they were perhaps 85 then, rest of it was hoardes upon hoardes of gangs of single young 17 to 30 year old males, the floors full of needles, smell of tobacco smoke bellowing out of each flat block. How an earth can 1 political party change an entire area? From my understanding cockneys earlier were being pushed outside by local authorities. Many wanted to stay it was their home.

Totally true Brickie, I'm originally from Liss (Hampshire) and there is no phucking way I will ever go back due to the Filth, Drugs, Gangs, Knives, Guns and the little wannabee gangstas (You know who I mean) running about armed to their decaying teeth with knives. I found paradise in Scotland, this town where I now live with my family is 99% white, a lovely old fashioned population that actually say 'good morning' to you as you walk the dog, And I'm loving our huge Log Fire in the lounge. England is PHUCKED and they can have it. At least up here its way too cold for the immigrants. Oh BTY two feet of snow due Wednesday 27th March 2024.. This is what keeps the immigrants away !!

I explored these so called no go areas of East London a few years back to see what all the fuss was about. Far less threatening than Moss Side used to be in Manchester (for example), or even some of the large mainly white council estates in my own city of Stoke (try Norton, Abbey Hulton or Bentilee). Probably as dodgy as any other city at night but I found the people to be friendly and not intimidating at all and I was even invited to a school summer fete by some lovely Bangladeshi women. I can only speak as I find.
