Yoi need full wrap handlebars to cut from both sides of the tree with a pulling chain instead of a pushing chain. You will save so much energy because yoi won't have to push the saw in the tree .use a pulling chain not a pushing chain

Yea man…I got a good pic of me lettin a bigun identical to that one in Martin co usin a 460 with 36”…I bored it perfect just like he did and it went a half a mile downhill from the point I was on…good job boys stay safe

I got an ol 075 sthil with a 36in roller nose bar 4 them nice size sticks like that it dont get to get out alot but it cuts some logs to grade a time or to a week most the time tho stay safe an have a good week buddy.

Biggest one we ever cut logging was a popular 8 foot through the stump we put the 1st cut and a little log and that was it on the back bunk of a Evans log trailer.. 😂 lol

That looks like an exceptional tall straight tree, but the camera lense is goofy and sometimes it makes the tree look smaller compared to you and other times it looks crazy large. Some friends of mine have red oaks larger than that but not as tall looking as that one, but still very tall forest grown. I'm suprised you didn't have something like an 066 to cut that, but all those Stihls are capable.

I’ve got the 47” 880 just few counties over wouldn’t care 1 bit put in yer boys hands…put a 36” tsumara .404 square ground skip on er and had rich at Myrtle cr dial chain in on his silvey razor sharp 2 just before he left the shop but still stay in touch if you er wanted see about buildin 1…my 394 he done is insane…ol man would like my mint 064 I bet..👊🏻

I had rich at myrtle cr saw shop port my old 394 and brother I’m a stihl man through n through but I have a brand new 880 settin here in the floor that with 24” bars couldn’t keep up with it..absolute dangerous with a razor ground chain in oak…pull is unbelievable and will kick out and kill a half dozen if you don’t know what yer doin..love to put it in the hands of good cutters..

Over 10 feet in circumference. A 10 foot choker couldn’t go around it. I may count the rings and measure the stump next week.

@@hoskinslogging9858 I'd say it was four and a half foot through or a little bit bigger here then I myself would've used a 46 mag to cut it down here cause that's all me and my ol bossman used to do it here too if he was still alive I'd still be cutting it too here but he passed away a few years ago now too and don't get mad when I say this but we never used any over a twenty inch bar on our saws here either now I'd made a little bit deeper lead notch in it and then I'd cut the heart out of it through the notch afterwards and then I'd walked around it and put it on the ground too here have a great day now

Yeah you can cut some big ones with a 20 inch. That’s all dad runs. It would have took a lot of spur trimming to get this one down with one. We’ve punched the heart through the face cut before. We like the 20 inch bars because they’re easy to handle. We didn’t want to risk pulling any fiber on this one though.

@@hoskinslogging9858 i just looked up water oak and it says its a fast growing tree in the red oak family, I hope it produced some good lumber, some Friends of mine have some northern red oaks about that size and around upstate New York they're old at that size, but nowhere near as old as a white oak that size, and they are rare around here. Seeing trees like that is more of a nature park experience, because people cut them before they get big.
