This compilation makes me so grateful for the targeting penalty. It hurts so much seeing al these tackles just spearheading with the helmet and leaving the recipient of the hit frozen on the field. As much as big hits are fun to see, that rule has done more good for this sport than perhaps any other.

Tony ''TD'' Dorsett recalls that day in Sept '75, when he and the Panthers strolled into Norman, Oklahoma. He however limped out after the game when he had a Rushing total of 17 yds and Pitt lost 46-10 lol (OU's Freshman RB Joe Washington had 166 yds). Tony was a fantastic RB in College and the NFL, he had over 6,000 yds in College setting that Record until Ricky Williams from Texas broke it. I believe that no other College Defense ever...what the News papers said....shackled Dorsett like that. Dorsett has laughingly said that he made Scott Hill a lot of money off that hit, and OU should 'grease' his palm because they owed him a lot of money lol.

Two points: #1) GREAT edit! No long wait periods between highlights…just hit after hit after hit. Well done! #2) ironic to see how so many of these hits would be penalized in today’s league. I’m glad player safety is thought about when establishing new rules, but there’s something I miss about the old school smashmouth football.
@gcarsk3 жыл бұрын
These are 18-22 year old kids. They didn't know how to play safely, because no one cared to teach them how to tackle and play safely and skillfully. It used to just be "try to give the other kid brain damage", instead of high-technique tackling. It's really sad how many of these guys are killing themselves or otherwise losing their minds because of hits like these. CTE is terrible.
