Fernando was a beast definatly one of my favorite boxers growing up. It's a danm shame how they threw him to the wolves so fast, he was very poorly managed. And even at such a young age Tito had to low blow him 3 times just to keep him under control, Vargas was making a comeback in the middle rounds so titto did him dirty. Feroz was never the same after that fight. I get pissed of just remember that fight.

vargas was a decent fighter but it wasn’t his age that led him to lose the fight, it was the fact the he didn’t really box that much, he had no waist movement, or good footwork, and didn’t have the best boxing iq, he relied heavily on his power but as we know that alone doesn’t win matches, de la hoya in the other hand had better footwork and a fast jab, in fact i personally feel that de la hoya could of knocked out vargas earlier in the fight but if you look at the full fight de la hoya tried to use the shoulder roll, something that floyd sr tried to teach him but that wasn’t de la hoyas style so the first few rounds looked awkward for the la hoya, even george foreman said that if oscar used his old style vargas would of been out earlier
