The movie theatre you walked in, there used to be a giant animatronic dragon that blows out real fire up top of the dome but later took it down due to being expensive for maintenance.

@@bjpm7718 no, high maintenence it was like 40 feet off the ground, the fire got no where near anyone
@indarkness90892 жыл бұрын
The fire blowing was cut out for the rest it's life before it was taken down. One of the reasons why it was taken down because it was building up dust and debris, right over the main stand. Since no one took the time to clean it, it was a health hazard so they took it down for good.

I'm surprised this place has stayed open for about 30 to 40 years because here in the States, numerous malls have become abandoned due to the increase of online shopping in the past decade.

Larger and more experiential malls seem to be doing better, especially in Canada where the weather is less predictable. Amazon doesn't yet have a way for people to hit the pub, play mini golf and ride a rollercoaster while buying shoes.

37:00 You might wondering, "why is there so much open space for such a small ride?" well... there used to be another ride to actually used all that space. The Perilous Pendulum. Used to be fun to look outside when it went upside down. 40:34 Cookies by George is STILL THERE! I remember each visit to West Ed (what I called the mall), it was a requirement to always visit there before leaving.

If I were you, I would definitely go to Chef Tony’s near the west end of Edmonton. It’s a really good dim sum restaurant. It offers cheap prices, yummy food, and good quantities of their dishes! If you can’t go there for any reason, I recommend going to the Chinese dim sum restaurants near downtown! They also offer dim sum, but in my opinion, the prices and food don’t really top Chef Tony’s

(Edit) Just a bit of a nit-pick to the owners of the Mall. On the inside, it's a very nice looking well maintained mall, but on the outside, seeing all that rust everywhere and corrosion and such. Yeah, they need to fix the exterior because if they don't all the nice stuff on the interior could be compromised and could spell permanent closure of the mall.
