Lars you are correct, that Silky 1000 is perfect for canoe or backpack expeditions. For most of us a smaller saw and an axe is all we need on camping trips, but where a chain saw is needed but weight restrictions demand a hand saw of some sort...you got the answer right there.

The reach of this saw means you do not have to bend over to cut fallen timber which reduces back strain. This would be a big help when several cuts have to be made. If it was raining/ snowing you would not have to leave your shelter to cut firewood. O.K. Maybe that was an exaggeration but now you can carry more bacon and buckwheat instead of fuel. Totally, totally excellent. I mean Awesome.

The Longboy, as it should be called, looks more like a medieval weapon, like the Naginata, than a tool. First I thought it is ridiculous to make it a folding saw; such a long blade, why bother folding it. But then I realized, for convenience, transport and so on, a folded saw is easier to handle and also way more safe. Overall impressive, I think saws are still underrated as a "survival" item in comparison to knives, knives are good of course but honestly, people batoning for 2 hours is just not as effective as using a saw for one hour. Very cool, very weird tool, and very cool of Silky to give it to you!

Tubs up for the best Camera Ninja in the whole world, maybe in the whole universe ; ) The Katanaboy 1000 would be great for trailbuilding and hiking path maintainence in very steep terrain too. Also in national parks where they try to disturbe as view as possible it would be a great tool. A compression with an old professional crosscutsaw of the same since would be awesome! Who knows, maybe one of the American KZbinrs will do it, over there were some quiet impressive toolmakers in the past. Silky is my favourite modern Saw producer as well, great company! Thanks for sharing and all the best from Germany, Maximilian.

As always an excellent video! Good to see the pink ninja like adventures with her Dad. I'm a Canadian canoeist and I believe your correct , this saw would have a place cleaning large windfall that fall across portage trails. The Silky 1000 would be lighter and more compact than a chainsaw and it's gas and chainsaw . I think it could compete with a two man crosscut saw being used by two experienced loggers.

I'm eager to see some big Siberian log fires on future videos this winter. So well equipped with the biggest Silky saws, there can be no other way! Usually, I learn something from your videos, but the Siberian log fire is definitely one of my favorites. I have the Silky Katana Boy 650 and the Silky Bigboy. For the Bigboy, I have several blades with different teeth sizes permitting different jobs from fire wood cutting to finer cutting for wood joinery. I also gave Bigboys to my sons, as they were impressed when they used mine. It is a reassuring feeling to have this tool if a survival situation comes to pass.

Excellent saw. I can see many uses for it, mostly as a pole saw for trimming trees around our ranch when I dont want to lug around a chainsaw, gas and tools to keep it running. That long draw is a time and back saver. In Texas we have two species of trees Mesquite and Hackberry which are invasive. Mesquite grows and spreads by long roots, hackberry by little berries that birds just love to eat and leave on the fencelines which can wreck them in less than a year.

Whoever gave this video a thumbs down must lead indulgente life and need to be thrown out in the middle of the wilderness so they understand to appreciate simple things. This was a wonderful video and I loved it I'm so happy that you received the saw it should make things a little bit easier
