What a day!!!!
I didn’t do very well…. But you can’t win them all. But I did get a possible Bronze Age fragment and a coin and some other bits and bobs!
Pete pulls out an incredible looking lead item which now I’ve had a look at it, is it a jester playing a guitar (or Lute) riding a sheep or ram 🐏
Can anyone help I.D. this one??
As for Paul, he only goes and finds the biggest silver coin I’ve ever seen 🤩 in the final minutes of the dig ….and it’s from Brazil 🇧🇷
I would love to know how such a coin came to end up in a field in Perthshire, Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
It’s days like this that make detecting so addictive…. You just never know what you might find!

@@thescottishdetectorist rubber By 1900 the country had exported 24,301,452 tons of rubber. Brazil also exported around 3,377,000 tons of coffee between 1821 and 1860, while between 1861 and 1889 this reached 6,804,000 tons. Technological innovation also contributed to the growth of exports.

your lump of bronze is in fact a pot leg off a cooking cauldron. would date 1400-1600, the lead statuette, i had one off a field in dalkeith a few years back it represents george and the dragon, and mines was classsed as a coffin mount. georgian in date

That bronze might be worth sending to have it tested. The test I'm thinking of can tell you about the metal's age and origin l. Then you could submit it to the museum if it is in fact mid evil or later.
