In this video! I show you what is possibly the biggest single social housing project currently ongoing in Africa.
Located 10 minutes drive from Cotonou in Benin Republic, is the country's flagship revolutionary social housing. It's so big that it can be called a city on its own. That is where I am heading.
Here is what I find more amazing about this social housing. The entire over 10,000 housing units are being built with hardcore solid concrete. From the low high risers to the smallest bungalows, they are actually erecting all the structures with concrete. Wait till you see it for yourself.

@Opinionated African Traveler And if they have no jobs? Do the buildings just sit and rot? Or get taken over by squatters (what will probably happen). Or will the just sit empty while all the people with no jobs build shacks alongside them? Building a bunch of housing to rent out to people who have no jobs because no one built the economic base to actually support them is beyond stupid. People like you are the reason why Africa is such an economic basket case.

Thanks so much for the drive tour! It’s really massive. Benin 🇧🇯 is one of the least talked about and known countries in Africa. The project is impressive and was hoping that it’s more than 4 stories tall as population is growing everywhere in Africa and this country is small. However, I do realize that it may have been a deliberate move since electricity is not reliable and so can’t rely on elevators or lifts all the time.

Concrete is not a sustainable material and is not adapted to high temperatures. These houses will be heat sinks that will require AC thus putting pressure on electricity grid! Would have been better to use brick and wood for parts of the structure! Otherwise great project with affordability in mind!

To say that this housing project in Benin is the biggest social housing in Africa is to throw dust into the eyes of the good people of Benin and the entire African continent. I know you are being paid to do your shoddy findings which are not based on any qualitative and quantitative research. I saw the housing project. It is wealth it in a small country like Benin but not definitely the biggest housing project in Africa. Please get your facts right and accurate and stop the political propaganda and framing
