The most impressive thing to me about the top United States stadiums is that they are generally all in small college cities of less than 250,000 people, which shows just how popular college football is to be able to fill a 100,000 seat stadium. For instance , the entire population of Ann Arbor Michigan is only 121,000, but the big house sells out every home game by drawing people from hundreds of miles away. Big difference compared to filling a crickett stadium in a city of 30 million people in India

However, during the 2000 summer Olympics, it had 115,000 capacity when the record Olympic attendance figures of 114,714 was set during the closing ceremony. It too, was also remodelled after the Olympics to it's current configuration.

A stadium is quite a bit different to kilometres/miles long race circuit. Can’t compare the two as a stadium has all spectators in a confined space while a race circuit is a much larger space and spread out over a rather large distance.

Depends on how seating capacity is determined. When built it had capacity for 150,000. Then they went from benches to individual seats (for at least part of the stadium) which now gives it capacity of 114,000. It can still be reconfigured to accommodate 150,000, but since that’s not how it is typically configured I would say using 150,000 capacity is incorrect.

The list obviously doesn't include speedways, which often have several sets of grandstands that are not connected to each other. That would have eliminated Indianapolis, which has a permanent seating capacity of 257, 325. But that logic does not rule out Bristol, which is a single structure surrounding the race track. It has a 162,000 capacity and was used for a football game between the University of Tennessee and Virginia Tech, which holds the record for the largest attendance for an NCAA game.
