I'm really not in a position to be critical. However. the farmer could've have had a much straighter head land if the first man on the plow raised his bottom just as it reached the headland & each of other operators raised his bottom consecutively as his bottom reached the headland.

That farmer is also getting a lot of compaction on soil from the heavy weight of those steams. Compaction is not good.

steam engines where old school technology they were made and used long be 4 gas tractors were made they were used alot 4 plowing and 4 flat belt work and they pulled a many sawmills that all changed after WW2 then went 2 gas and diesel power units then 2 there was alot more tractors being made and used gas and diesel tractors both 😊 OMG 5 14 2O23

I tried to count the bottoms. I don't believe this was footage of the 44 bottom set up it pulled. It looked more like approximately 30. Difficult to tell. It wasn't showing it's full pulling power, even with the 44. It never spun a wheel, or lost rpm.

I''m surprised that big plow pulled straight. We couldn't hardly get an 8 bottom to not run sideways. Also neat how they added an extra band on the steel wheels for "duals".

It took many decades before diesel tractors or trucks could match the torque of monsters like this. Even smaller steamers on the Prony brake register more than 2000 lb-ft.

@@simon-oy6umthis 1 in the vid is a reproduction. There was only 9 case 150 steam engines ever built, all were scrapped during ww1 for the metals. Corey Anderson got the original blueprints from the case company and with some minor tweeks he made this beauty once again. So this 1 is the 10th case 150 steam engine to grace this planet.

Have they ever been able to get a full dyno pull on this one? The last one I saw where they tried it kept throwing the belt around 1,000 pound/feet. Maybe it was a much higher torque figure, the power was still climbing when the belt would start to slip
