Most mesmerising wave. It’s the thickness of the lip that is just awesome.

that is a swell that should be given a new word to describe it, mesmerizing indeed

I'm 50. Been surfing since 1981. Born & raised Ocean Beach/Sunset Cliffs San Diego Ca. Surfed some big spots, very big. However, I would never ever tow into this beast. Mahalo Chris for sharing your footage. Aloha, Uncle Bobby

I’m mid 60s, surfed from age 10 till my mid 50s when the wheels fell of due to arthritis. Have been thinking a tow in on such a beast of a wave could be a great way to euthanise myself. Probably have to bolt a Zimmer frame to the board 😂 If I made the fist one I guess I would just keep going until I didn’t.

I’m asking myself the same question. From what I understand, the word “Teahupoo” means “skull crusher” in the local dialect - and for a reason.

Wow, that may be the best surf video I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot. The ultra slow motion and high definition on my TV gave me that sick feeling I get when I paddle out on a huge day.

I got scared in a too big for me surprise swell in France,.. 10ft with a 1ft lip. Just watching these walls marching in like an army standing straight up with an off shore wind felt eerily personal as if they had me singled out and coming for ME ... They had like a personality, i could've given them names... Really caught me off guard being a beginner and all. Really traumatizing to be stuck in between. I do not understand how these guys can commit to that level... has to be a near death experience just being there experiencing all that input.

The water is rushing up the face so fast they just can't keep up , they end up catching a rail and going over the handlebars, looks like unrideable at this size even by towing in... I don't know, you won't catch there for a million bucks...

It is a Miracle every time someone rides the whole Wave, the whole way through until the wave ends and in actually calm water. It's dangerous but that is strangely part of the beauty. You have to have surrendered completely to God, and the Power of His Creation and your hopes to ride the wave and live(yes, really), all the way till it ends, long before You choose Your wave, commit with the intention that You will do what You came there to do, ride it till it ends❤️🔥.

The one guy that you couldn’t tell if he made it out or not was in what I call the dark. And he was in it, we only usually experience that in Florida when we have a hurricane and dirty water where the sun doesn’t penetrate and you get in the dark.
