As a lifetime crocheter. I appreciate you guys picking up the afghans & giving them a new home! ❤
@lilolmecj9 ай бұрын
When I go to charity shops the afghans kind of make me sad! I think of the cost and time invested, and someone just tossed it. lol I have a weird piece that was the extra yarn when my grandma made me a Grannie square bedspread, I can’t force myself to throw it away. It is acrylic,but one part she needed more yarn and must have accidentally picked up wool because one square is felted! And 13 year old Carole certainly had different taste! Guess my kids will toss it someday.
@Rebelhomeland9 ай бұрын
@lilolmecj maybe not. All my pieces someone has treasured because they love crochet. It's making a come back. A while ago I started crocheting harder more interesting projects. Because I know many ppl. Keep the interesting & harder intruqit design. So maybe if they end up at thrift stores someone will pick them up & give them a new home. I have been crocheting since I was about 11 & now I'm 69. It's a gift of relaxing while making something beautiful. Many of my neices want to learn & once in awhile I get a chance to try & teach them.

I only made one, (I like much smaller projects), made it in the late eighties, was supposed to be white, mauve and navy, instead it was white, hot pink and medium blue, never used it, block colors not pretty, just gave to the thrift store a few weeks ago. Lol

I found a solid off white fringed Chevron pattern afghan today for $3. I was so excited to find it and it was perfectly clean. The work involved was amazing. It’s going on my bed atop a Matlese’ coverlet. I will keep this a very long time. ❤

I like Zeb’s suggestion of taking all of the soft goods to the laundromat. Yes, it can be expensive but that is a lot of wear and tear on your washer and dryer. Plus, you are done in a few hours versus two - three days.

The problem is I hang dry most of them. So where would I hang them all at once lol. We have a semi commercial speed queen set. So it can handle it or it should lol

New subscriber here, from MT. I love that you guys rescue the old books, quilts and afghans, etc from the landfills. Goodwill makes more money for their programs they pay for, you guys make money and it saves great items from being thrown away. Win, win, win! We live in a small area and travel 35 minutes to get to a, not so good, Goodwill. We can't be choosy here though. Sometimes we find some great items but our prices are higher here than anywhere I've seen on any videos. Not even sure if we have a Goodwill bins in our state, maybe in the most populated city. It's four hours away so we don't get over there too often. Thanks for sharing!✌️😊

So funny how things operate differently from one goodwill bins to the next. Our carts get left alone by other ppl if they are covered. So everyone grabs a blanket or sheet as soon as they get there. The new bins aren’t covered when they roll them out. Also, you can’t film either and it’s way more uncivilized than your location 😂 yes… the police get called more times than one would think. Its like a disgruntled prison yard lol
