An absolutely gorgeous, beautiful, soul-moving display of iconic RAF fighters, and the one lone Norwege-liveried P-51!! So wonderfully satisfying to see these great airplanes, restored, maintained, and up in the air for shows like this!! Great, moving video!!

Even now the hairs on my neck stand tall. Was a great feeling having these all fly over as I stood in that field. Brilliant footage. I'm still editing the pictures I took.

Thank you for putting this up. An amazing sight, just wish I could have been there. Respect to all those who flew in the BoB and for protecting these shores and respect to the new pilots showing these off for our benefit and also to celebrate the Hardest Day.

I came from Australia to be at this air display. The trip was well worth it! A fitting tribute to 'the few'.

Great video! I was there at Biggin Hill on the day but missed seeing the solitary spitfire at the end doing his barrel roll. So glad you captured it! Great momento of the day. My Grandad's cousin Jamie Rankin flew spitfires from Biggin Hill in 1941 and I've always been interested, but it was the first time I'd been there.

I was hoping that someone would put a comprehensive video of the Hardest Day flight, as the BBC didn't give it the coverage I was expecting. 8 of them passed my house and I got some distant footage, but nowhere near as good as this. Your shots are excellent! Thankyou for sharing this it is an great reminder of those momentous days 75 years ago. I hope it gets lots of views

Truly would've loved to have seen this. I'm a son of a career corporate pilot/instructor/cert. mechanic. Fmr. pilot myself, small Cessnas. But they all pretty much fly the same..some faster than others. Can truly appreciate this!!

I had no idea there were so many flying Spits left I thought Hurricanes were the common ones, respect to the restorers. To the chaps who didn't come back, our debt is unpayable.

MachineElf I believe there are 3 more Hurricanes based in the UK, Spits are easily clocking over 50 worldwide now, most of which are here in the UK. Thanks for the view and comment

Awesome video, I stand corrected, five Hurricanes. Much better video than the TV camera, he seemed more interested in empty sky and chatting than doing his job! Thanks so much for presenting this day and respecting it in the way it should be. Wish I could have been there!

The P51 was originally ordered in April 1940 by the British Air Purchasing Commission. There was a realisation in Britain that its bomber squadrons were open to attack during bombing raids and that Fighter Command did not have the aircraft available to give Bomber Command sufficient protection. This sort of states the P51 was there for good reason and deserved to be, it was a great help for bomber command and saved many crews. Its not as beautiful as the spitfire but with the Merlin bolted on it was the best of its time. We needed them.
@julianneale61287 жыл бұрын
Paul Bell it's generally accepted that the P51 with the Rolls-Royce engine was the best escort fighter of the war, but not overall. It was a very good machine that was quite fast with a highly efficient airframe (it was at only very high speeds the Spitfire was much faster than anything else). It had reasonablely good firepower and was reasonably maneuverable, but not very... It did have it's structural issues too, and couldn't be thrown all over the sky 'willy nilly'... It still doesn't stop the P51 from being a very good fighter, it's just impossible to clarify the 'best', especially with some of the other competition...

It's great to see a second one with Polish Air Force logo cause not many people in UK remember - 303 Polish Fighter Squadron was the best one in a Battle of Britain and some Polish pilots lost their life to faith for British people freedom...

Not even a victory role in sight. They did'nt need that Mustang they had two dual Spits that could of held photographers for air to air pix
@bannistator9 жыл бұрын
Jim Young Can only guess because the German based TR9 didn't turn up that this stepped in. I wasn't expecting much aerobatics personally as it was more of a tribute/memorial. Paul Bonhomme put one solo victory roll over the field at the end. Thanks for the view matey
