That's not a combo, almost nothing you see in melee is a true combo, just follow ups exploiting the fact that the opponent literally has almost no options in the air besides taking hits, jumping, or challenging. So yeah, not very impressive. I've seen better combos on smash 4. And no this isn't a bait, it's coming from a former melee player who's made 100's of dollars at local tourneys. Maybe the truth is Melee is just becoming too predictable, meta game never changes, tier lists are the same. Tactics are the same. Everything.

7:45 Commentator got it wrong. The best DI to Link's dair is no DI. If Leffen had DI'd to the left, he would have lost the stock.
@Foreverlypink77 жыл бұрын
how is that the best DI?
@justinmontgomery95267 жыл бұрын
Cause it naturally sends you toward the corner(usually)
@PrinceShion7 жыл бұрын
Got this from Stro. "It can be hard to tell which direction you're going to go. The angle isn't straight up. It's around 60 degrees. Usually, the place where you get daired is 60 degrees off from the corner anyway (right around the ledge). If you DI the wrong way, you'll go straight up and die almost for sure, since most dairs are high. That's why people think it sends straight up and is really strong. It's regular strong and sends at a somewhat steep angle."
@yungJenny7 жыл бұрын
Boof thanks, my man. :)
@TheRealBoof7 жыл бұрын
While it's true that it can be hard to tell which way to DI, doing no DI sends you at the most optimal angle. Check out this save file on Melee Calculator. Try messing with Fox's DI on the right-hand side. Note that this is from center stage. Move fox over to the sides of the stage and it becomes optimal to DI in the direction you're being sent with slight emphasis down. Basically, when in doubt, don't DI the dair.

So this kinda reinforces how bbroken Fox is right? Like Sixx was getting reads, he was comboing into solid options, and Leffen was just getting randy kill moves, and exploiting Foxes super fast moves and good recovery move. And then lets just cover ledge by hanging and then shining. Fuck I like this game but I don't want to bother getting any good at it, it pisses me off so much.
@dr.hiramtemple5647 жыл бұрын
Eh, any of the top tiers could probably run circles around Link. Also, Leffen the number 6 player right now (and the best solo fox main), and Sixx is currently unranked. Anything short of a 3-0 could have been considered an upset on Sixx's part, and he still did better than a lot of fox mains could ever dream of doing against Leffen. And even though fox is clearly the best, any character in the top 10 has been shown to have at least some potential in major tournaments, so there's still a decent roster of 'good' characters to pick from. Even beyond that, skill still maters way more than character: look up m2k's pichu, DJ Nintendo's bowser, or any other low tier highlight reel, and you might find yourself thinking these characters are grossly underrated. If you pick a character you like and learn the techskill and matchups, you might find beating fox is a lot more doable than the theory-crafters and tournament vids make it seem. Of course, I'm just a scrub who doesn't even go to locals, so I'm probably talking out my ass. But that's my 2 cents.
@savanchandul74517 жыл бұрын
TiltSlamBam What I don't understand is that Fox kills some characters at 50-70% using flicker buttons while Link's down air and up air that have actual risk kill around 110-130%. Did Sakuria forget that powerful moves should have drawbacks? There's never a risk for using Fox's up air and up smash because every move in Melee can get punished, but their reward cancels out this risk
@dr.hiramtemple5647 жыл бұрын
Yeah, fox's move data is pretty ridiculous. With regards to that, I have a couple theories--namely, fox's kill power and frame data was probably supposed to be compensated in other areas. For one, he doesn't have the greatest reach with most of his attacks. Also, he may have been envisioned as a technical, but hard to use character. growing up, i never could effectively play the space animals because they were just too fast, and Sakurai may have banked on that being more of a limiting factor than it turned out to be (granted, even top players will occasionally suicide with side b and other tech, so it still is has a bit of an impact). In my opinion, the most egregious oversight in fox's character design is his laser. It's the best ranged attack for racking up percent-- coupled with one of the fastest movement speeds in the game, fox is able to outcamp any other character. With his three ranged attacks and disjoints, Link is clearly set up as a zoner, but fox's laser will outdamage all three options, and completely invalidate bombs. if is laser weren't so overwhelmingly dominating, i think the game would come together a fair bit better.
@ZacDonald7 жыл бұрын
The game is definitely not balanced, but if you want to play a good character with longer ranged attacks, just play Marth. It's not as if spacies are the only viable characters.

@nahor886 жыл бұрын
Exactly; Link has to work so hard for everything, and if you screw up, that's it. You may not get another opening. Fox can just do his basic tech and win. Most of Sixx's success came off of hard reads.
@Thierce6 жыл бұрын
Leffen didn't win juste because he played fox, Leffen won because he is a better player, and would've beaten a player of Sixx's caliber no matter which charater they are using. If anything, mu inexperience gave Sixx and edge that other players of his skill level don't have when playing more common characters
