So many great scenes, one of my favourite is:- Brian gets caught writing "Romans go home" in Latin on a wall by a Roman soldier.... But the soldier points out that Brain has actually written "Roman they go the house" The soldier then gives Brian a Latin Grammar lesson! With the final schoolboy punishment for his mistake of.. "now write that out 100 times"! Absolutely brilliant!

These scenes are prime examples of why this is the best Monty Python film. It really plays on the rhotacism of Michael Palin's portrayal of Pontius Pilet. The extras playing the soldiers in the Biggus Dickus scene were given orders not to laugh and were told they would be sacked from the production if they did so. This resulted in their realistic reactions which is testament to the directing skills of the late great Terry Jones. Even the Pythons (Michael Palin, John Cleese & the late great Graham Chapman) were struggling to remain composed. I knew somebody with the same speech impediment as Pontius Pilet and funnily enough he was called Brian (I kid you not!).

The Python's great hero, Spike Milligan got a cameo part in this film and they played a trick on him in filming. The film could not have been made without the financial support of George Harrison. Everybody misses the running joke throughout this entire scene: Caesar's speech impediment isn't an impediment, it's a reflection of his education. Pronouncing his "r" that way indicates that he's speaking Classical Latin, which would've pronounced "v" and "r" that way; "Veni Vici Vidi" is pronounced "Wenny Weechy Weedee" in Classical. It implies that everyone else is speaking Latin Vulgaris, which would be the commoner version of the language.
@ftumschk

Enjoying reaction channels was a bit of a creeping surprise to me, but here I am. I really enjoy seeing film and song that I grew up with and loved, being seen and heard for the first time by good people that are cultures and continents apart from my own. I also love seeing friends apart still being able to share good times thanks to the power of the interweb as you are. 2 suggestions. Work on your vocal audio, it is too tinny and slightly annoying despite your bubbling charisma. The balance between your vocals and what you are watching is good, some channels get that very wrong and it is a very important level, so well done to you. Get better mics and turn down the treble and up the bass on the vocals. You have the potential to do well, and I hope you do. The 2nd bit of advice. Get some Black Sabbath In your life!

Nobody does schoolboy humour as good as the Pythons. I highly recommend you watch all of this movie, one of the funniest comedies ever made. Beatle George Harrison financed it and you might spot him in a crowd cameo. Other memorable scenes are the stoning scene, classic Python silliness. When this movie came out originally, some local councils in the UK tried to ban it because it satirises religion. Needless to say, it only encouraged people to see it, you can't buy publicity like that!. John Cleese appeared on British TV defending the movie against objections by church officials. A comedy show on TV at the time, Not the 9 O'clock News - a satirical sketch review of the weeks news - did a sketch about it (you should check that out too although as it was topical at the time, some of it has dated badly in 45 years).
