“I don’t have a problem with drugs, I have a problem with life” that’s exactly what addiction is, using drugs as a coping mechanism, to escape. Most addicts don’t like using drugs, but it’s what helps them escape so they continue to use
@Cbd_7ohm

What do you call a mild addict who uses kratom and weed every day but doesn’t drink more than one beer in a day and hates most other drugs?
@giotucker8075

@@Cbd_7ohm in my mind an addict is still an addict (I’m not judging I struggle with addiction, currently ~75 days sober). And what I’ve learned through my recovery is that being an addict is just using unhealthy coping mechanisms in order to deal or escape from your problems. Sure you might not be using heroin every couple of hours, but the drug isn’t the issue, it’s how you deal with your problems is the issue

The problem is that most people conflate physical dependency for addiction. Or rather, there is physical addiction and an emotional addiction. Some folks get on painkillers for a legit injury. But then when they no longer need pain relief they realize that withdrawal is so awful they dont want to deal with it. So some people keep taking pain meds just to fend off withdrawal. Interestingly, many painkiller users stop getting the high sensation since they get a tolerance. So they will keep taking pills literally to avoid withdrawal symptoms interrupting their life. I think the worse addiction is the emotional one. Because you actually crave the high sensation as a coping mechanism to block out the bad aspects of life.

Sobriety looks good on you famo. I have 7 years clean myself as of this December and just turned 25. Didn’t think I’d ever live this long. I lost all of my family do to drugs. I was on heroin and Xanax bad af in 9th grade,so bad I couldn’t even set a whole school day with out having severe withdrawals. I dropped out. Became a government assistance statistic and wasn’t leaving my bed. Not even to shower or eat. I was lucky to eat a pizza lunchable that day. I had my first daughter in 2013 and been clean since. Got off of the food stamps and got a pretty good job at power plants and chemical plants. Good pay but very dangerous work. Coming from a family of addicts,I wanted to understand it. Well I did exactly that. Experience is the best teacher. My babies literally saved my life. 🙌🏼🖤

I have 2, coming up on 3 years clean from heroin and what he just said, "I don't have a drug problem, I have a life problem and drugs are my solution." Those are words that I tell other addicts in recovery all the time. Drugs were our solution. I'm not saying it was a good solution, but it was the best that we could come up with. And it worked, maybe for a day, maybe for a month, maybe for years. But eventually it won't work. And you need to come to terms with it and put it down, and find a better solution, instead of a temporary one.

Real talk bruh! Respect for identifying the true problem instead of avoiding admitting that you are the root of all your problems. I've gone thru similar situations numerous times over the last 15ish years. Finally getting off the same ish only recently. Barely 2 months clean as of today but I'm finally being honest with myself and my peers, and finding happiness in being sober for once and recognizing that I'm the main problem. I used to find any and ever excuse to not get clean, typically blaming my problems on everyone else around me. Surprisingly being sober is so much better than sober than it ever was while tryong my best to avoid getting "sick" all the time over the last 15 years on H. You constantly have to make sure you will have some ish 24/7, and knowing to go buy more before you actually run out, because no more than 12 hours after you do run out is when you start to feel the withdrawals kick in and very quickly you stop anything you're doing and start searching for that relief. It was a full-time job trying to stay "well". I can relate to everything he said about his addiction so well. I feel like he described what I had been going thru myself for many years. So thank you for being real and coming to terms with yourself and actually being honest with others when asked about your life, because admitting to others that you are fully dependent on opiates instead of continuing to live that lie and trying to convince everyone that "I'm ok" and telling myself that there is no problem with how I was choosing to live for so long. I should have died any of the many times I od'ed but apparently it wasn't my time to go and the man upstairs had just spared my life once again, but for some reason I survived once again. I knew my chances to get clean after surviving another overdose were running thin and I was likely going to run out of time eventually and that was being selfish considering that I have a 3 year old daughter and she deserves to have her father in her life, instead of just having the piece of shit junky of a father that I had officially becomeI had become but constantly told myself and others that I was ok. I will say that Kratom played a big role in helping me get off the hard stuff that I had been secretly abusing. I highly suggest giving it a try if you are going thru similar stuff and are terrified about getting dopesick when you quit. Suboxone and Methadone is definitely not the answer! That stuff is even harder to get off of than the dope is. Trust me! Good luck to anyone else out there with a similar story. Sorry for typing a novel. I get carried away sometine but just because none of that is an exaggeration. It was probably still down played a bit from how serious it really was. Hope this helps someone else. If I can help anyone get off that stuff then let me know and I'll try to walk you thru what helped me. Take it easy. Thanks for the video Adam!

he was trying to say he has an addictive mentality. like he can get addicted to anything and neeeed it whether its alcohol, gambling, drugs, sex. he said many times he "thought" he couldnt live life without it, so its obviously a thought in his past not present. i dont think i have a problem with life, i think problems in life led me there at times and then the numbness and ability to feel good when life is shit kept me there and then the withdrawals kept me going past the point i didnt even want to anymore.

It's seriously awesome that I stumbled on this video. I relate and it's great to see this person in so much better a place and having these realizations. Addiction is sick man. And people still act surprised when people continue dying in an industry where drug use is glorified. It leads to a whole bunch of sick addicts afraid to get help because they look around and see a bunch of other addicts pretending they're handling their shit and it's just "partying" or "casual use". It's all fun until it's not, and the money's gone, and your sole existence is dedicated to being high by any means. Good for him. You don't necessarily need 12 step programs to be clean but I've seen it help people who try, people who thought they were hopeless.

Heroin addict myself. Started right before my 18th birthday, I’m 28 now. Been clean a handful of times. Longest was a little over a year clean. My advice and hope for the younger generation is please stay away from hard drugs that make you dependent. You have no idea what your getting yourself into and the hell your going to endure for the rest of your life. Even after getting sober and being clean, you will still deal with the battle of addiction for the rest of your life. Never in a million years would I have thought I’d become addicted to heroin. In fact, I had never even thought about doing hard drugs. I didn’t know at the time but one of my best friends somehow started doing it and very quickly became addicted. My house was the kick it spot back then and him and our other good friend started doing it and they would show up at my house and constantly go out to the car. They finally told me one day that they had been doing it. But only one of them was already strung out doing it everyday. They had only told me cuz they were going to pick some up and I was in the car. I turned it down countless times when they would come to my house and smoke it and offer it to me. I just couldn’t see myself doing stuff like that even tho I would pop Vicodin, Xanax, Oxys. I used to even smoke oxys once in a while back then. But it was never a problem and I never was addicted. Anyways one night we were all drinking at my house kicking back and I started to get pretty buzzed. Were in the car smoking a blunt and they pull out the heroin and start smoking. Offered it again and I turned it down. I started getting curious about how it feels so I started asking a lot of questions. Probably cuz I was buzzing lol. As a result from being buzzed I finally said fuck it let me try it. Took my first hit, it kicked in and mannnn it felt great. I took about 4 hits that night, and that night was the end of my life as I knew it. Nothing would ever be the same. I would never be the same. I slowly started doing things I said I would never do. Things I couldn’t even imagine myself doing. I said I would never shoot it up. Now I’m at the point where I can’t even hit cuz all my veins are gone. L... Ok I’m done. Long I know but just wanted to put that out there. Hopefully it will stop someone from using. Stay strong love one! 💪
