These Bighorn Sheep are protected in their natural space. We would not know how to go about raising any in a domestic environment, sorry.

The head-ramming between males seems biologically pointless, as they all pursue ewes as a group. There is no apparent alpha male decided by the exercise.

Rutting has two purposes. First it signals to the ewes that it’s mating season. Secondly the strongest males will eventually chase off the weaker Rams. Just because they’re pursuing ewes together doesn’t mean they all will get to mate with them. If a stronger male sees another Ram going after an ewe he likes he’ll hit it. Males have rules and don’t generally fight but that goes out the window when the rutting season begins. While it might look like they’re working together they’re not. Rams don’t share partners. Rutting can get quite vicious when only two or three Rams are left still fighting. The rule that only the strongest get to mate and pass on their genes still applies.
