I can't get over how nonchalant this man is. He is looking into the camera while flicking strings faster than most people can use a calculator. Then literally flicks his cords while still picking. It's just awesome. I love the voice behind it. This is awesome. This is just absolutely beautiful.

You should see videos of him and Clifton Hicks playing together. Clifton is happy like a kid in a candy shop when he plays with this very special banjo player.

Thanks Matt, and continued success. I hope your TV show gets picked up by a sponsor and I can get it on cable. Thanks eversomuch for working to keep these old songs and traditions alive. They're fading fast. Hopefully, the younger set will start appreciating them.

Both Kinman and Hicks seem to like that double C tuning on the banjer. It's hard to beat. Songs like Darlin' Corey, and Shout Little Lulie are perfect for that tuning. I've even heard Cumberland Gap played in that tuning. Hattie Stoneman and Commie Tipton had a special Cumberland Gap tuning that's really nice.

I'd also love to know what the tuning is he is using. As a new banjo player, it would be helpful. My 1 year old loves this video. I have been playing this for her since she was 3 months old, and know she totally recognizes it

What do you mean by conventional clawhammer? Different regions have had varying styles of clawhammer and now alot of those techniques have spread everywhere. Matt's style reminds me Stringbean

@morgandebruler92815 жыл бұрын
I would go get myself an autoharp. It fits with this style of music and was used by Sara Carter. it does have around 26 strings but you just hold down the buttons which will form a chord then you strum. It's that easy
