Joe90's flying car is one my absolute favourite Anderson vehicles ever! Joe90 was James Bond for kids definitely had it's dark moments but that's why I like it so much.

I loved watching the early 70's repeats as a kid and got Joe on VHS in the late 90's 👍

I never saw Joe 90 as a kid. I got the DVD for my 21st birthday in 2013. That's when I was able to watch the series, and I've loved it ever since. Whilst not full of awesome vehicles like Thunderbirds, or as mature as Captain Scarlet, it's still a great series, full of action, fun scenes and a fantastic score by Barry Gray. My favourite episodes have to be "Hi-jack", "Business Holiday", "Project 90", "See You Down There" & "Viva Cordova"

And I first saw it in 1969! It was quite a year to be a kid in Britain!

@Alan Cogan Blimey, were you a fan? I was only eight in '69 and I wasn't even aware of him. When I later saw him on Top of the Pops I didn't like him, he gave me the creeps, something about his staring eyes. Turned out my first impression was correct. Alan, I do have to reassure you he didn't get all of us, most of us were watching things like Joe 90. I'll leave you with two more positive words from 1969, John Noakes! Oh, and maybe Lulu the Elephant.

I’ve seen lots of TV shows where children are the heroes but Joe 90 is definitely one of the best. For a start, it’s way better than H.I.High because in that series it’s not taken seriously, it only takes place in one location, there are no guns or cool vehicles and it spends a lot of the time taking the mickey out of James Bond. Where as Joe 90 is the exact opposite and that’s what makes it better.

I love all your videos. Gerry Anderson is one of my heroes, the guy mainly responsible for me wanting to be a writer. Don’t think he ever did a bad show. A true, underrated genius

Glad to see this show get a fanbase, most people who bashed it are people who didn’t give it a fair chance, but those who watched it are delighted to see a dark, yet warm and exciting spy series.

I was thinking about how the BIGRAT technology ties in with other similar SF tech, like the Intersect in the Chuck series and the memory wipe and transfer technology in Joss Whedon's Dollhouse series. Both of those went a lot darker, covering the dangers and hazards of the technology, though as you say Joe 90 was quite dark and hardcore for a children's show.

I like Joe 90, guaranteed that some of the episodes aren’t all that great, I mean I didn’t like episodes like Lone Handed 90 and The Race for example, but a lot of them are fantastic and definitely a must have for many fans who loved the show on first broadcast and those in a new generation, who watched the DVD’s since I was 14 and still loved them.

I knew sooner or later Joe 90's 50th birthday was coming. My favourite episodes are: The Most Special Agent, Business Holiday, Three's a Crowd, Double Agent, Lone Handed 90 and See You Down There. My favourite moments are: *Joe telling Shane Weston: "As the egg said to the frying pan, the yolk's on you," while Mac laughs and Shane has a defeated expression on his face. (Business Holiday) *Joe and Mac tricking ruthless businessman Mr. Clayton in believing he was hallucinating. (See You Down There) * Joe telling Angela Davis, he has her brain patterns. (Three's a Crowd) *Joe defeating the evil priest in the temple. (Child of the Sun God) *Joe pretending to aim a blowpipe at Shane while he gets nervous. (Child of the Sun God) *Shane acting nervous in Mac's hot air balloon. (Project 90) *Each member of the Western WIN gang falling out of their car. (Lone Handed 90)

Those analogue tapes date it, don't they? Agree about the lack of female characters. Previously, Dr Venus, Marina, Lady Penelope or The Angels regularly saved the day. All we had in Joe 90 and Secret Service were a couple of potty housekeepers.

Joe 90 was ok in my opinion (I prefered Capt Scarlet), but it did have an excellent title tune/sequence, the way the music tied in with the electronics & Big Rat reveal was brilliant. Also, interesting point about adult Joe. Personally I suspect he is either in an Asylum or he became a Psychopath/Sociopath (basically the same thing, except Sociopaths are made, Psychopaths are born). But following your darker note, the Professor can just get another orphan wjen that happens (unless Joe killed him). Anyway, happy birthday Joe, whereever you are 😊

After watching Thunderbirds then Captian Scarlet during the first runs in NZ, I was disappointed by Joe 90 because it wasn't as awesome. Maybe now that I'm 60 I'll give it another chance. Thunderbirds Ago Go is awesomely awesome.

As far as I'm concerned, it's impossible to not mention Joe 90 in the same breath as Scrappy Doo. Unlike some critics of the series, I have watched all the episodes. There's always been something jarring about having a small (in physical stature) upstaging bigger characters. This is where the comparison with Scrappy Doo comes in (and possibly Albert the fifth musketeer)

They could do a live action version. Joe could be perceived as a kid but really has a growth problem and will permanently be one which would get around the p.c. Brigades moans for using kids In dangerous situations.
