AWESOME! The first half of this video is a BEAUTIFULLY performed cover of a rendition that IZ (Israel Kamakawiwoʻole) did in his own, unique way in 1990 (when I lived in Hawai'i). I am SO GLAD she performed it that way. That brought tears to my eyes... Iz had such a spellbinding & soulful voice - the likes of which NOBODY can replicate. Iz's version of that song always elicits such emotions. IZ only sang it ONCE for public consumption - after midnight in a recording studio - because the studio owner apprehensively agreed to come in and recorded it upon Iz's request. Iz never performed the song in public. It was almost NEVER published for the public to hear. It was only included on Iz's second album (Facing Future) as a last minute decision by Iz and his manager. Iz passed away in 1997. The song gained notice (after his death) in 1999 from a TV commercial. It subsequently earned the distinction of being the longest-leading number one hit on any of the Billboard song charts, spending 185 weeks at number one on the publication's World Digital Songs chart. The song has been included as key backdrop music in over a dozen movies/TV shows.
