In this video I discuss in more detail about the Glare on the Bigscreen Beyond and when it is noticeable and when it is not as noticeable. I go over edge to edge clarity with the device and the issue with all pancake lenses. I discuss OLED blacks and colors and the difference between OLED Blacks and other headsets with local dimming. I then discuss the 100% brightness versus 150% brightness and what I prefer. Lastly I discuss the difference between 90hz mode and 75hz mode and the issue I had at 75hz mode with Beat Saber.

So, the CEO of Bigscreen, Darshan, messaged the thread on discord explaining that within the Bigscreen app there is a setting where you can tilt your environment. So, if you want to lay back on a chair or lay down and watch content On Bigscreen you can and still be in the sweet spot. Awesome pro tip!

I think your videos on the beyond have been some of the most informative I've seen. And I feel at this point I've watched close to every video available on the topic. It shows that you know what you are talking about, and I appreciate the emphasis on what the experience is "for you". Many "reviews" are a lot of talking and not a lot of information.... Keep it up if you enjoy it, I think you're doing great.

Dude came in here and answered all the important questions in one take. I've watched just about every review so far from all the big steamers and your review blows them all away. Major props to you good sir. P.S I think the Beatsaber issue is a Dev issue on their end not being compatible with the Bigscreen and it probably just an issue as it's still a super new headset. Makes me a little bit concerned about other games though.

1. Thank you for the kind words. I am really trying to not be like every other KZbinr that does reviews because I don't think they answer the real questions people are looking for. So, thank you for acknowledging that and liking my take on the videos. Every other game I have tried seems to work fine in 75hz mode. Honestly though, Beat Saber looks SOOOOO good in 90hz mode so it isn't even an issue.

So, I have decided to wait on buying the Quest 3 for now. I really want to wait for the right head strap to be available and the right facial interface and fan to be available. I will be waiting for BoboVR to creat their stuff and have it readily available before I get the headset. What I can say is my teammates that did buy it like it ALOT. One of them HATES Meta and bought the Quest 3 because he is a map maker in Onward and he was actually blown away with the device.

1. Make sure you are wearing the device low on your face. Te top of the face gasket should be on your eye brows. When I first got the beyond I was wearing it too high on my face and my eyes were directly in the glare and it was BAD. But it is lower on my eyes and almost sitting on my nose and it looks great now. 2. Download the beyond tool and change the brightness to 115 - 125%. I will get brighter for you.

Do you know how the glare compares to the Quest 2 assuming you are in the sweet spot for both? I would be upgrading from quest 2, so if the glare is similar, then I would not mind at all. Great video too, I just found your channel recently and your content is awesome
@gamer.z3ro
@gamer.z3ro 8 ай бұрын
I would say the glare is different. On the Quest 2 the glare and god rays can be everywhere, versus on the Bigscreen Beyond it is in a fixed place (mostly lower part oft he lens). I ain't gunna lie... you might want to consider the Quest 3. The lenses are really great, edge to edge is amazing and the clarity is great and well. They don't have the glare at all, BUT anything black is gray like in the Quest 2. Thank you for liking the content. I am new to this and trying to be an informational as I can because I feel the other people talking about this headset isn't answering all the questions people have on this device.

I would say this is the closest headset to use as a monitor replacement. The comfort is there and the clarity is there. SO, I would absolutely say it is doable. As for watching movies and content, it is great.

If your pupils don't look straight ahead and you look anywhere other than the center with your eyes not the head, you will understand that the edge clarity is bad. You need to move your head with this headset, not your eyes. I was told this is because of the 3cm lens compared to other headsets which have 5cm apperture
@gamer.z3ro
@gamer.z3ro 2 ай бұрын
For me personally it isn't bad. It does degrade, but I do fine not having to always move my head and see pretty clearly. Because of how light the headset is I do move my head more because it is crystal clear in the middle. Depends on the game for me.

Hey! Thanks a lot for the video, it was really great.👍 Could you please give me advice? I think you're the only one who has enough knowledge in this area to answer my question. I'm mostly looking for a headset to watch movies and shows. I have a good 65" hdr oled tv but want to get really cinema and 3d effects with good picture(I don't have an appropriate wall for a video projector). My priority is not comfort but to get the most enjoyable and realistic picture from watching movies. I'm ready to buy Pimax Crystal but is it the best choice in comparison with Bigscreen Beyond or maybe there is a better choice? I mean which one can give the best cinematic experience? I've read that Pimax Crystal has HDR and Bigscreen has a "glare" issue during scenes with high contrast, is it true? Or maybe it's impossible for now to get better cinematic experience from a VR headset than from a good 65" hdr oled tv set? What do you think?
@gamer.z3ro
@gamer.z3ro 8 ай бұрын
So, The Pimax Crystal will have a better display, but the bulk of the headset and the back of the head strap will not be super great for watching content in VR. Imagine sitting back in a chair in the Bigscreen App watching TV, but you cannot get comfortable because the back knob on the head strap keep digging into the chair and your head. I am not a fan of the Pimax software and they turning out new headset every few months. While the Bigscreen Beyond does have glare (but the glare is there all of the time) and even you OLED TV probably has some blooming I still feel like the Bigscreen Beyond is the way to go from a comfort standpoint. Currently inn the VR sace there is not a perfect headset. Take the resolution and comfort of the Beyond and the clarity of the Pimax Crystal and the lenses of the Meta Quest 3 & Pro and that would be the ultimate headset. I was watching Bigscreen in my office, on my Beyond, lounging in my chair and it was super comfortable.

@gamer.z3ro
@gamer.z3ro 6 ай бұрын
So, I have always used the pleather VR cover face cushions for my Vive and Vive Pro headsets so I was used to the sweat. It is no worse than that and no worse than a pleather face cushion for any Quest device. When I am playing Space Pirate Trainer of Onward I can sweat a decent amount, but it is just normal to me.

Thx for clearing that up. Bu-da-tchhh! 🥁 I wish the KZbinrs from 7 months ago were as concise. Interesting that you prefer 75fps. As a pop1 user, I imagine using 90fps for the faster movement. Idk.
@gamer.z3ro
@gamer.z3ro 8 ай бұрын
So, the reason I prefer the 75hz is because of the extra clarity further away. When my avatar (I guess that is what we would call it right?) is moving the 75 hz is smooth. Much smoother than I thought it would be. Once you get your headset try out both modes and see what works best for you and your wants. You'll also want to test out the brightness as well and see what percentage is best for you as well.
@RidgeXR_2
@RidgeXR_2 8 ай бұрын
I did a lil math, and due to the low pixel response time, 75hz on a beyond is equivalent to somewhere between 90 and 120hz on an LCD headset in terms of smoothness. 90hz will feel somewhere around 144hz, or even above. I don't have the exact numbers for pixel response times, so I can't make it perfect.

Do you think 90hz on the Beyond feels like 120hz on other headsets? That’s what the website says. My current headset is a Samsung Odyssey+ which is OLED 90hz and I certainly wouldn’t say it “feels” like 120hz.
@gamer.z3ro
@gamer.z3ro 3 ай бұрын
Honestly, I think why you might not feel that way is because of the motion blur that happens with the Beyond. I honestly use my headset almost exclusively on 75hz mode. I would rather have the full 2560x2560. I really don't notice a difference refresh rate wise from my Vive Pro to the Beyond in 75hz mode. I do think people want to claim this or that, it is all personal opinion. I know OLED will have better response rates and that's why people might claim 75hz is like 90 on LCD or 90hz is like 120 on LCD.

I'm so glad I got the Quest 3 after this review. What a cafuffle buying the Bigscreen Beyond. Seems like a nightmare having to scan your face and having a fixed IPD. So much for parties in VR. Yes it has good blacks and resolution if your willing to sacrifice to 75Hz. The Quest seems so much more accessible, no more annoying base stations, use it anywhere, 120 Hz, massive online standalone library, wireless play, colour passthrough, half the price. I know the Big Screen Beyond has some attractive features, but for new folks in VR, the Quest is an easy choice for me.
@gamer.z3ro
@gamer.z3ro 7 ай бұрын
So, if you're already in the lighthouse ecosystem the Bigscreen Beyond is a better choice for majority of people. But yeah, if you're trying to share the headset this isn't shareable. The clarity is better on the Bigscreen... the colors are better... the black levels are unbeatable... the comfort is better... and there are other reasons. However, if you're new to VR the Quest 3 is a great headset. I still wouldn't buy a Quest 3 today (I haven't even bought one myself yet). I would wait until they get the bugs fixed (tons of issues with headsets to the point Meta is bleeding money) and more accessories are available.

Glare and unfair pricing for Europe is what killed this headset for me.
@gamer.z3ro
@gamer.z3ro 7 ай бұрын
So, the glare is something that is known, but you get used to it very quickly and is not too noticeable in most situations after a couple of uses. As far as pricing, in the United States it is $1,000 plus the taxes. So for me in Florida we have to add an additional 7% to the price. I am pretty sure in Europe the cost has all taxes and fees included. I know it is still higher than in the US. Sorry to hear that those 2 issues got you to not buy the product. It truly is a great headset for PCVR users.
@dtz1000
@dtz1000 7 ай бұрын
@@gamer.z3ro The problem with the European price is not with the tax. The problem is with the exchange rate that Bigscreen chose for us. It is a horrible exchange rate. They on purpose made the headset way more expensive in Europe for some reason.

For $1000 bucks, I just don't think it's worth it with all the drawbacks. If it had the same quality lenses like a Quest 3 or if it would sell for 500-700$ it could've been acceptable. But once again, they'll lower their prices, once competitiors are arriving, at which point, their headset will be useless anyways.
@gamer.z3ro
@gamer.z3ro 7 ай бұрын
I will 100% agree that I wish the Bigscreen Beyond had lenses like the Quest Pro and Quest 3. That would be magical. As for the pricing, the screens alone are a big factor into the pricing. These other manufacturers can cut costs by using LCD panels. For $1,000 it is worth it to me, but this headset isn't for everyone. Now that I have been using it for over a month I cannot go back to my other headsets. The bulk of the headset, the weight, etc is unbearable to me now. I think now one will have a competing headset that is that small for at least 3-4 years... especially a standalone headset.
