I was able to ride in a brand new 7520 when I was a kid in 1972, then many years later I was able to drive a friend of mine’s low hour, beautiful 7520. A smooth, quiet and strong tractor! I also loved my 4620 John Deere that I used on my farm for years

We purchased a 7520..one of the last ones sold ...a 8430 was setting next to it...i wanted the 8430 but dad wouldn't spend the extra money. The 7520 turned out to be a great tractor even though the ac never worked and you couldn't hear the fancy AM radio...used it for over 20 years before it was traded in...last time I heard it was still in the fields in Southern Ohio

@williamhalpin67133 жыл бұрын
@@bigtractorpower yes one 8850 customer in Cayuga Co. Tractor was a warranty nightmare. Constant transmission trouble, Deere eventually replaced transmission case. Shaft holes not lined up. Bearing failure on original tran case.

A smooth looking tractor for sure! Its amazing the design and skill of engineering and manufacturing of equipment before the 80s and before computer aided design. John Deere was this first to use Pro Engineer starting in 1987 to design all their stuff in. Now most major Agco companies use the software.
@bigtractorpower6 жыл бұрын
They sure had a style all there own in the 70s.
@RJ1999x6 жыл бұрын
Allen Newbauer The 7520 was an engineering disaster. No live power, splash lubed transmission that failed going up hill under load, tie rods holding the back end up, stop and shift transmission with a no torque engine so it could start anything out under load, had one for a short time, it was in actuality a horrible tractor
@allenrnewbauer6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the insight. Maybe that is why is was only made for 3 years.

My Dad had one of the first ones out of the local dealership and paid $22k , my Uncle he farmed with bought one the next year and had to pay $33k to get one. I bought my uncle's 11 years ago and am still using it. Spent $12k one new radial tires ( Blems) this year and am slowly restoring it to it's glory. I have slightly newer tractors but it's just gratifying to relive driving it. At the age of 9 Dad had me out in the field with his new tractor field cultivating. Boy have times changed.

Nope. A basic 1971 Bronco on Ford "A" plan (Ford employee purchase) was $3200. In 1974, an International Harvester Scout was $4600. My father-in-law worked for Ford Tractor, and I bought the Bronco on "A" Plan financed by the Tractor and Implement Division (T&I) Credit Union - so I have no idea where you'd get a $2,000 pickup.
