Headed to centramatic in the morning to put on my 2015 chevy 3500 dually. Nobody can seem to get the balance right on my truck!!
@stephencooper49876 жыл бұрын
I'm retired now, but I was a owner/operator for 36 years. I bought a new truck every four years. I used the centramatic's on every truck I ever owned. They not only made a smoother ride but they increased the tire life. I have a 2014 F150 and am going to see about getting some centramatic's for it. I never thought about them for pickups. Thank you for bringing this to my attention.

Based on your recommendation, I purchased and installed CenterMatics.....let me tell you. Game changer. Our 2019 F250 with Michelin Defender's would not balence out and caused horrible vibrations at all different speeds. CenterMatics fixed all the issues. Money well spent. Thanks a bunch.

I run Centramatic Balancers on my Kenworth with new Alcoa wheels and it really smoothed out the ride. Worth every penny. Before the Centramatics I went to 4 different shops to try and balance out the truck to no avail. After the Centramatics it became very smooth. Those who doubt are stuck in an old time reality.

Centra-matics are awesome. I've used them on every semi I've owned. Many where on multiple trucks. I'll be putting these on my new F450 when it gets in. Btw, it makes no difference which way you run them, they balance the same either way. They balance the tire, wheel and hub. The outside tire being the problem doesn't matter. Dual tires act as a unit when using these balancers. You don't need weights on your wheels when using them. It's recommended to remove any additional weights, beads, etc.... Your not balancing just the tire, your balancing the whole wheel assembly. That's what makes them so awesome.

I installed these Centramatic Auto Wheel Balancers on a 2008 F-350 dually Class B motorhome. They worked great, could never get rid of the vibration it had after multiple balancing and alignments. I think you will be happy with them. After asking around several construction companies run them on their larger trucks, F-350, F-450 with no problems.
@spuriouseffect6 жыл бұрын
So this can be used instead of having your tires balanced? I can change the tires myself, I've just always had to pay to have them balanced. Seems like this would save a lot of time and money.

We used a set of those rings on a semi trying to get rid of a shimmy on the front. Tried balancing, truing the tires, different tires, different brake hubs. Nothing was working, not even changing the king pins or a front end alignment. Lots of money and downtime, in the end it turned out to be an anti-sway torsion bar. Not on the front but on the rear that caused the issue.
@marklepkowski42226 жыл бұрын
Not really on same topic but from past experiences. I have seen many wheel and tire combos that have had way too much weight installed, like a few ounces in various places on the wheel. When I put new tires on myself, I will put the set of paint opposite of valve stem to start and attempt to balance. If all is good with very little weight, I go with it. If not, I break the bead rotate tires on wheel in direction I think will balance better and reinstall and balance. I have gotten many tires balanced this way with minimal weight attached. Shops usually just go for the fast way, not always the best way.

Awesome. You and I did exactly the same things. I had beads installed on my 450. The shimmy got worse. Fought with multiple places to get them removed. Southern Tire and another tire store couldn't get the center hubcaps off (probably a good video on how to do this - it's a pita). Finally had the Fast Lane in Scottsdale, AZ remove all of the beads and re-balance with stick-ons. Found a tire that wouldn't balance (defective), replaced the tire for me, and got me back on the road - all for zero dollars. Fast Lane is good stuff (when they aren't super busy). Looking forward to the long-term review before I buy, but if it's favorable, I'll go get them put on the next day (get rid of the ugly sticky weights).

After being an big rig owner/operator for 21 years and 1.3 million miles of driving my own rig, this is what works best. First run aluminum rims-less unsprung weight-rides best and dissipates heat the best. Spin balance ALL tires (even though the stick on weights don't look the best-tire longevity is more important). Then run the Centramatics at least on the front, with running on the back good too. No other balancing system works-golf balls, sand, whatever inside the tire does NOT work.

Back in the early 1990s, Sears had a machine that slowly spun the tire on the rim, measuring the out of roundness of the combination and ground off the edges of the high spots. Worked great when it was needed. Today they have force balancing which kind of works better and identifies pulling tires.
@gorgonbazil26524 жыл бұрын
I have had these on two different trucks, a Ram 2500 & my Ram 3500 ---- THEY WORK!! I had problems with the rear vibrating real bad until I put these on the rear axle of the dually.. On another note, you have to have that inner steel wheel on your dually, when running aluminum rims on the rear DOT states that one wheel per side needs to be steel (most choose the inner wheel)

I used airsoft bbs (heaviest I can find) on the jeeps I had and on my ATVs/SxSs they work very well. The problem with the clear (small) beads and the kitty litter stuff is that they hang easily on the ribs inside the tire also any moisture in the slightest will clump them making them useless. One other disadvantage is that dynamic balancing solutions like this is that they typically aren't very effective at lower speeds but once you get above 25mph you're golden.
@blazenlights6 жыл бұрын
I am going through the exact same issue as I just got new tires this month. I did a long trip and didn't notice the unbalance during towing my 5th wheel. How ever after the trip with out the load it jumped all over the place. To the point of fishtailing. Scary! Took it back to the Ford dealership and they found 3 bad tires. They have so far suggested that I stick with the beads. I pick it up today and we will see what happens. If this still doesn't work I'm getting the centramatics. I'll let you know.

I bought a new set of Goodyear tires for my van and had vibration issues from day one. The dealer was no help. I finally paid to have them road force balanced, only to find out two of the tires were over 50 lbs out of balance. I replaced them with Michelins, and no issues at all. Years ago I bought a set of balancing rings from JC Whitney, but can't say they helped. It would have been nice to try this product out.

I never understood throwing the bag in. A guy I use to work with ran beads in his big mud tires on his 250 and in his 22.5" wheels on his 350. That's how he would run them and his 350 rode smooth.

In the Uk wed balance them on the truck with a rotating balance machine that spins up the mounted wheels whilst still fitted to the truck,you can then balance out the whole assembly
@mhamma65606 жыл бұрын
I use synthetic hi-temp grease and lightly coat the hub corners on ALL vehicles to prevent the rust you can see @4:35, both before putting on the rotor and after using a small brush (HFT #61880). For duals I'd do the same after placing the first wheel. Wheels and rotors always come off very easily and it eliminates the rust forming in that area.

these balancers have been around for a very long time and they work amazingly. the problem with cat litter or the bag sand(which you toss in the bag and itll break apart as you drive) is when you add air to your tires you add moisture which then causes clumping and so the sand and litter quit working. farmers would also use golf balls.

Interested to get an update after you have some more miles using the rings. It looks like a far superior product over the “sand” balancing beads that were dumped into the tire. I don't know how well your rims fit the hubs, but there are rim alignment sleeves that go over the studs to center to stud in the hole. Well for semis they do. Even a .040" off set at highway speed can make a vibration, especially the harder (80+ psi) you keep the tires

the 2017 F450 medic unit with 3000 miles, that I work in had so many problems with the ride once we put it in to service. Especially at 32 MPH and 60 plus. The shop guys put these "spin shake weights" on all four corners and it didn't fix the ride issues. Finally we took the rig back to Ford. The Ford dealer ended up putting new shocks on the front and then tried 4 different sets of tires on the factory wheels(6x4)=24 tires. The ride now is much, much smoother, but it is still not perfect. I Can't believe that the tires could be so poorly built that it took so many to find the best tires.
