Karimuddin masjid is the first and oldest mosque of Bijapur Karnataka India. Built in 1320 CE by the Khilji Dynasty Governor Malik karimuddin.This mosque exhibits Hindu Dravidian style of Architecture as it was built by Revaiyya Badiger who was an expert Mason and Carpenter in 12 th century Islamic Architecture in India was at it's infancy during that period. This structure is supported by 60 pillars which are carved in monolithic rocks and the structure has least of plastering work most of the stones are joined using interlock system made by carving grooves at the end of joining structures The roof is made of simple stone slabs joined systematically.The height of this structure is approximately 10 feet and the flooring is designed by a simple mortar plaster. Tombs belonging to the 12th century saint Sheikh Mahabar khandayath Sani and his warrior friends are found in the courtyard of this mosque .

Presently this is mosque is in very delicate and serious condition with falling debris at any moment but thanks to Archeological survey of India They are painstakingly trying to restore this unique monument to its original condition.

From the Architecture of the site, it seems it is a Temple not a Masjid.

Sir there is an inscription in this mosque in halegannad and Sanskrit mentioning the details about this mosque .It is also in the records of Archeological survey of India since no Islamic architecture and architects were available in south India This work was assigned to Revvaih Badiger but the best thing is It's uniqueness A mosque in a Hindu architectural style please check out the details from Archeological survey of India And thanks a lot for watching our videos.
