Some of the info here is misleading. I have noticed most of the driving instructors are prompting us to have maximum training classes. For 1 hour class, they are charging at least CAD 50-80 per hour. 10 such classes will fetch at least 500-800 dollars for them. Hence anyone clearing G directly is affecting their business. If you have reasonably good driving experience in India, it is not a difficult task to clear the G test directly without G2. One needs to bring Indian DL, IDP ( International Driving Permit ), and DL Extract. With IDP & India DL, anyone can rent a car and drive legally in Canada for a defined period. We need some friends or relatives for a few initial hours to get a hang on the left-hand drive, left turns, and highway driving. All signals and rules are available in plenty of youtube videos by reliable folks ( like Charlie's Smart Drive Test ). You may need to rent a car for 2-3 days to be comfortable with the driving for which you may need to pay a max of CAD 200-300. You can also use the same car for the driving test. Just make sure you include insurance as part of the rental. It would be ideal if you can get a reliable instructor who is ready to teach everything in 2-3 classes maximum. But most of these instructors don't teach everything quickly and they will be very strict in class timing because they count money for every hour! If you are determined and ready to plan well, you can do everything by yourself. New immigrants are exploited by many driving instructors, consultants, vehicle dealers, and realtors. Because without proper housing and commute, it is very difficult to survive in Canada which is encashed by most of these intermediaries. If we are aware of the way-outs by proper research and plan, we don't need to entertain these folks and get things done by ourselves. Maybe this input helps someone and this is purely based on my personal experience! @Bijo, your vlogs are informative and useful.

Hi Kiran don’t think anything is misleading…it’s one’s choice to get trained and write test ..I took 15 classes before my g2 …while on drive ..I always remember the tips and laws explained by my instructor 5years ago… I agree it depends person to person.👍

It's not that taking driving classes is mandatory to drive in Canada, but taking driving classes from an experienced teacher will make a huge difference while taking the driving test.

@@ashifali209 I have noticed most of the tutors prefer to extend maximum classes. Nobody recommend to go for G directly. I and my wife experienced this. We were targeting to go for G directly. But our tutors forced a lot to go for G2 first and then G. Later we didn't listen to them and took G directly and clearled. Drivign instructors know well if we can clear G. Still they prompt newcomers to choose a lengthy route to ensure their income by extending maximum classes. That is the fact which no driving instructors disclose openly.
