I had been a witness to "sleep with sleep" conversation once when I was in boarding school all those years ago. Sleep to conscious conversing is common, you just try asking something when you caught a sleep talker and they might respond to you. Sleep talking happens more frequently during times of stress such as exam season or some other important events like school festival days. I had a few "conversations" with my wife while she was sleep talking and she had done the same to be on much more occasions... she even had a few recordings of it... hearing something that resembles you but having no memory of saying it is kinda... unnerving...

This reminds me of a story me friend told me about his sleep over at his friend’s place. The power went out in the middle of the night. His friend couldn’t sleep because it was to hot and decided to start laughing while sitting on the bed for some reason.
