Bike Adventure 13 - The Bronx Part 1

People don't care/ pay attention to bike lanes / cyclists.... I'm an asshole to people who don't care about safety. NYC born and raised. Most of these incidents can be avoided if they paid attention. Look before you cross, put your phone away while crossing / driving or biking.
( Since people don't have common sense )
I don't yell at people for "breaking the law", I yell at them for not caring about SAFETY, that's it.
Idiot: "Oh but you run red lights and stop signs, stop being a hypocrite"
Me: "I make sure EACH intersection is 100% CLEAR before I pass each light/ stop sign. When it's busy, I wait until the light is green/ safe to go. Hard to be a "hypocrite" when I risk NO ONE'S safety" what else you got?
Also also, here's a huge difference between me yelling at idiots for "breaking the rules" ( which I don't )
and yelling at those who risk my safety and the safety of others... Please learn it

You are so correct about pedestrians and the bike lane when you said the sidewalk could be a mile wide and people would still walk on the bike lane. I don’t ride but notice pedestrians in the bike lane in Seattle and it drives me crazy.

Something interesting i just noticed. In the place where i lived the left turn on bike is forbidden, you have to walk on the crosswalk to cross and continue left- obviously no one does that, but it is something i would like to hear your opinion for. Further is there a law that forbids the use of sidewalks in America as there is such here ... Although most bike lanes are located on the sidewalk

In NYC it's illegal for anyone over the age of 16 to ride on the sidewalk. If bikes are "supposed" to be in the street, why would they need to use the crosswalk?

@@ZeroEnigma Argue that with your police, your judges and your state legislature - not me. I merely pointed out that your suggestion would result in someone getting an expensive ticket. Another thing..had it parked at the corner it would have become a hazard to drivers by blocking their view of traffic. Think outside of your own box. Truckers and businesses are not dealing with ideal situations for shipping and receiving supplies in much of NYC. A great many don't have special loading/receiving docks. Try complaining to a cop if you think your complaint is legitimate.

The fine for blocking the hydrant ($115) is about the same for blocking the bike lane ($115, I looked it up for you). So you're not "saving" anything 🤷 Plus blocking the bike lane, you're STILL forcing motorists to drive around you, bike lanes are not the same width as driving lanes, so you're accomplishing nothing 🤷

Sorry, but the Bronx is a great place to ride: 1. Tons of bike lanes, Greenways, hills, flats, etc 2. Plenty of great neighborhoods, various waterways, parks, and bicycle paths 3. Easy access to the rest of the Five Boroughs, New Jersey and Westchester county. 4. Tons of gorgeous women everywhere, etc. Give me the Bronx all day, everyday!
