The wheel with the green tire matches your great shirt. You would look well coordinated riding about green shirt, green tires, multi-patina (grin) Nice program!

The patina looks cool! Also, the gum wall tires definitely make a great fit. Well done Randy 👏

Thanks Mario. Yeah I thought the gum walls went well with the patina of the frame. Have a great week.

Awesome build Randy. I use hand sanitizer gel to put my grips on. They slide on easy and the gel evaporates quickly. Can't wait until you ride it.

I’ll have to try the sanitizer. I typically just use whatever cleaner I have on hand. Thanks Roger. Have a great week.

That came out great! I've seen you use the hairdryer trick a zillion times now... I'm going to look for an opportunity to try that. I can't help but notice you're wearing shorts. I'm up to my ears in snow. All the best from the Great White North my friend.
@LocojoeАй бұрын
It was Adam Savage I first seen using a hair dryer to dry paint. One of those things that now seems so obvious and can’t believe I hadn’t thought to do it sooner. Wearing pants now and for past few days. Cold is here… although it’s supposed to be back up in the upper 50s tomorrow. I can’t imagine dealing with all that snow you have. Thanks Josh!

That frame is interesting. As you point out it has the rear brake bridge that is intended for a brake as would be used on a derailleur bike, but it looks like a '50's frame from the patina. It may have started life as a Cruiser 5 from the '80's and acquired the B.F. Goodrich badge later. The center to center distance for the headbadge screws have remained the same through the decades. Also missing the kickstand but no chainstay bridge is unusual makes me believe that the kickstand has either broken off or was removed. I have a Schwinn Heavy Duti with the kickstand bracket broken off as well. Nice build. These cantilever frames ride real nice with unicrown forks.
@LocojoeАй бұрын
Yeah I’m really not that well versed in these old bikes (or any bike for that matter). I couldn’t find a serial number in any of the 3 places I know to look. Maybe it had an internally geared 2 or 3 speed non coaster brake? Idk. Glad I didn’t have to widen the rear triangle though. I once had a Heavy Duti that was missing entire kickstand unit also. Thanks for watching and the comment.

@Locojoe it was actually two matching red timber wolves. I gave one away and am fixing up the more busted one. Planning on using it as a winter bike

Kinda gives me some thoughts about my Schwinn Canti framed w/Sturmey 3 spd with no serial numbers anywhere. Ripe with patina too. Nice build, don't stress over paint. You can come back later and change it.
@LocojoeАй бұрын
Yes that’s true about the paint and patina. Have fun with your build. Thanks!
@peterbaskind9872Ай бұрын
I love the something-out-of-nothing concept here. But I think that you may be overthinking the patina question. Just go with it. Manufacturing a patina - in my mind, anyway - misses the point. But it’s your project. You do you.
@LocojoeАй бұрын
Yeah you’re right about manufacturing the patina. Some builds I do just leave the finish as it is. I.e. blue bike, red fork. Other times I just don’t want that mismatch and would paint the fork blue so it doesn’t stand out. I suppose I do the same with patina. I might fake a patina just so the part doesn’t stand out and matches better. Not necessarily to make it look old. In this case I should have just left the fork as it was because it really didn’t stand differ that much from the frame. Thanks for watching and your input.

The fork bend angle is too flat! It makes it look like the fork is bent towards the frame?
