Don't line up the stem with the tire, some tires may be molded off center. I line up the front of bar with both of the fork drop outs.

Not checking with the centerline. Going outsides of tire though t the width of the stem. Turn the wheel 70degree so you can ch ck through both sides

Yes, heavier hardware, the bar clamp is one solid piece vs a cheap split open face clamp like a RF Affect. Those two details makes a world of difference on a 35mm bar. My bike came with the Affect, it only took about 5-6 months for it to start failing. I literally was having to adjust the bars and tighten the screws before every ride. I had to keep a tube of threadlock in my tool kit. I have had the Copperhead for over a year of hard riding and have yet to have to adjust my bars and tighten the bolts. I was honestly a little surprised at the difference. You can torque this clamp tight enough to keep a 35mm secure under the roughest conditions. If the bolts on the Affect wouldn't have started coming loose during every ride I would have never considered spending the $100, but after feeling the difference I can't believe I didn't make that my first customization. I feel pretty certain that the 35mm bars put a lot more stress on a stem than the 31.8 so you need something more meaty that you can secure the bars and hold them. I give this product 5*'s. All of Deity's products are top shelf.

If your bike looks cheap I can guarantee you it's not the stem. Your bike is a cheap piece of s**t. The stem is one component. You should get you a Raceface Affect, sounds like that would be more appropriate for your POS. All of Deity's components are top shelf in construction and elegant in appearance

@@rachet0708 I was actually considering getting this exact stem in this color but decided not to because of the way the stem looked. I don't like the front middle part with those, I guess channels that are cut into it. It does kind of make the stem look cheap, like they didn't really know what to do with that area of the stem. I ended up going with a Spank Split 35 in their bronze color.

the steerer needs to go through both bolts.

The steerer tube needs to pass the bolts when you install the stem, that way when you tighten down the two bolts, they're both clamping down on the steerer tube.
