Where I live we have a massive avenue going in one direction with 5 lanes in one direction in some sections and 4 and 3 in others.

Chris Gomez is right- I live in City Heights but work in Rancho Bernardo. Bike lanes do not help me much in getting to work! If I lived closer to work then I would for sure commute by bike. When I was in the Navy and worked in Point Loma and lived in OB and Point Loma I did commute by bike. Now I have to ride my bike to a rapid bus transit station and hope that one of the TWO spaces for a bike are available. I have done this and been lucky- and I do like the bus. But doing it this way is not cheaper than me driving myself and certainly is not as convenient- when I have done it, it was by necessity, i.e., car in the shop, or just for fun- Bike To Work Day. And then there is bike parking... we all see the videos of thieves making quick work of locks and chains. We also need secure places to leave our bikes when we use them to commute.

Google SAN DIEGO MASTER BIKE PLAN. Reelect no incumbent that supports it.

"More parking space promote more business" has no basis. It's far more likely that those spots are occupied by the employees of the businesses on the street and the cars stay there all day long. Just imagine convert the parking spots into dinning spots, how many of potential diners would be attracted to? In Europe it's much more common. By widening the side walk convenient for window shopping, the walkers are much more likely to step in the stores.
