Reminds me of my own Craigslist story. Wife and I came across a house that was available to rent to buy. "Owner" claimed they couldn't meet us in person because they were in Georgia preparing for a church mission. Wanted us to send them $2,500 and they would FedEx us the keys. Told us we could only see the house from the outside and we were to ignore the realtor signs in the yard. Can't believe people actually fall for it.

And on the Spanish thing, you love to see it, it's always fun learning a new language, best practice is to always just use it at any opportunity you can. That's the only way I managed to keep my proficiency over the years. Coz I'm native in Shona & Ndebele then learnt English growing up, then did French and Spanish in varsity, however I basically completely lost my french coz i have nowhere to use it but the Spanish stayed decent coz i force one of my Spanish friends to always chat to me in Spanish to keep exercising that muscle. Like doing reps in the gym.
