Welcome to the final episode of bikepacking around the Scandinavia Penisula and Finland (back in 2017)! This episode will be focusing mostly on the Åland Islands between Finland and Sweden. At the beginning of this story we start from the mainland of Finland, and we finished back where the whole Scandinavia tour began, back in Elverum, Norway. I'll be discussing the highlights of my trip, what to expect if you want to travel to Åland, Finland, Sweden, and Norway. The biggest highlights of Åland are that it's filled with vast amounts of the open sea, endless islands and plenty of stunning coastlines.

This video has been sitting in my watch later since you uploaded and I finally watched it. It's amazing, the countries, the trip! I'd love to make such a trip one day but didn't get further than one day trips home to home yet. I'm still struggling with the practical bits, what equipment to take, what to eat, where to sleep. I've never slept in a tent but even with hostels or something for shorter trips. Maybe I should just do it, I don't know. Anyways thanks for the documentary a year after :P keep up the great content! Greetings from the Netherlands! :D

Glad to hear someone is still watching them! I can understand these feeling I too in the beginning felt lost. Start small and build up your trip to bigger ones that can help alot with getting into these kinds of trips. I have a whole archive of Tips and Tricks (How To) kzbin.info/aero/PL2jyK-0TijszZDTkiTrfZf10hZ2IEpEYO hopefully this helps you out. 😉

Great way to re-use old footage! I did a tour of the Åland Islands this summer myself, and I definitely agree that the cycling there is great, but there is just too little stretch of road to cover. Regarding wild camping in Sweden, it's called Allemansätten (Every man's right to roam). And regarding the Swedish forests, only 25% are owned by the government. The rest (75%) are owned either by private owners or companies. Around 40% of Sweden's population live in the area around Stockholm, Uppsala and Västerås so no wonder there was busy roads there. :-)

i like the honest, pared back style in this series, i think if you have footage of old tours then you should definitely do more of these reflection type films, top job.

Been binge watching your America series and sat through the entire thing like "Hm, I should actually try to bike through Sweden." I go to your channel watch this and you've literally BIKED PAST MY APARTMENT already according to your map 😂 haha man like save some tasks for the rest of us! Really enjoying your channel though and as soon as I've moved I'll probably be looking into finding a good bike for myself. Thanks for sharing your journeys!

Sweden is indeed beautiful and the warmness of people balances the coldness of weather 😊 it is expensive here for sure but there is a reason for that too. Allemansrätten or the free man’s law is a fact, you are allowed to camp on public land for 24 hours at a time (then you have to move to another part of public land), you’re not allowed to litter and you shouldn’t disturb private land. You are also allowed to pick fruits on public land. Your pronunciation of the cities is indeed not correct but that’s not important 😊 we are just incredibly happy that you enjoyed this country and had a great time! Welcome back any time again! 🇸🇪😊

Hi mate! Really nice, informative video. As I'm planning a bike tour myself for the summer 2021(if the pandemic allows it that is!...) I wanted to ask you what bike did you ride on? (brand, specs, ...) did you have your bike customised to attach basket, satchels,...? also how many kilometres a day in average did you ride? did you have a daily target for instance 80km a day or you left it quite open and changeable? The scenery looks incredible. Great video!

I rode on a Fuji Tread 1.3 I have a review on my channel about the bike in detail. I bought apidura bikepacking bags which have a universal fit. Average was around 80-100km but if I felt tired I would stop for a day out of the week for example. The nights in summer are longer you can ride whenever you want. Good luck on your plans, I think we all had plans changed this year 😛

A nice video! Don't take this too seriously, but it is always a bit entertaining when a native English speaker hopes he or she pronounces names in Swedish or even worse, Finnish, correctly and fails almost totally. Åland was spot on, though.

I definitely adore Åland and I call it a cyclists paradise dispite the fact that the archipelago has only short stages but it is all covered by how beautiful and peaceful that area is. I did a lot of same route as you did so in this playlist you can hear the names of the places pronounced correct (and get some other locations in the main island) :P kzbin.info/aero/PL76eBv9uycdKC10pVSw3frkSs9gPuM0jZ
