Hi Mat, Been working my way through your uploads. Brilliant stuff. We did a fair bit of N. Europe a few years ago and footwear was always the biggest issue. Once those trainers or shoes got wet it was always hard going, Our solution was sandals with waterproof socks for when is wa cold or wet. Anyway just sharing. Keep the videos coming, really enjoying them.

I really enjoyed your video. You have a great presenting style which is basically arguing with yourself and it is very entertaining. Thanks for taking the time to do this.

Thanks. I'm glad you liked it. I never realised that I argued with myself but now you mention it I'll look out for it. Cheers 👍

I got to twelve guitars before my wife introduced a strict one in one out policy.......she bought me a guitar the very next Christmas..lol. Here's a fact, thirteen guitars does not make you a guitarist!!!!!@@matryderadventures

You're correct Mat! You should do what you want to do, and not because there is someone (or people) telling you to do what you need to do. Just follow your passion! 💯

A lovely watch, thank you. The places you visited looked very welcoming. You tackling those gates did make me laugh 🤣.choice words were used, I bet! Your tarp could double up as a Darth Vader costume, should you ever need one🤣 So nice to see you put a shirt on for your good old British afternoon tea - what a gentleman. Brilliant 😊

Thanks. Quite a few choice words, yes. Especially as the pedals tried to hack me in half during each attempt. It was a great ride though. Darth Vader it is for the next fancy dress party!!!

I believe I missed this one when you released it, once again it looks like a wonderful little trip. I found myself between marriages many years back, and I took advantage of the freedom this afforded me by spending a blissful few months bicycle touring along a lot of the British coastline, Essex was surprisingly lovely.

I learn a very good tip years back never focus on miles a day focus on time in the saddle.. ie say 630 you stop time dont matter the milers just set time
@matryderadventures Жыл бұрын
I like that advise. Using mileage per day makes no sense now you mention it. Especially as the terrain varies so much on the GDMBR. Excellent 👍👍👍

Another great video Mat, your dialogue and dry sarcy humour is up there with, or actually THE, best on KZbin! One criticism I do have and must take umbrage with though; jam ON the cream (and it’s “sconn”, not “scohhn”) ...!? Oh perleease, have you no culinary etiquette man 🙄 🤣👍
@matryderadventures Жыл бұрын
🤣 Thanks Tony. If you put the jam on first the cream doesn't adhere properly. It's science. I have no defense for the pronunciation though. I'm sorry 😔. Scohhn is way too posh. I've lost sight of my roots.

I enjoy a variety of outdoor activities so enjoy watching others do the same. :) Hmmm...man carries small tarp so he can carry tall beer, rightful thing! haha! Hope you enjoy your visit to Canada and have a fantastic trip. I am fond of my lovely country and hope you enjoy it as well! I am not sure how long the Canadian part of the trip is but Banff is a beautiful place so hopefully you will get to see some of it. :) Those bloody pedals are dangerous, wouldn't blame you for getting rid of them. lol Relationships and locks, definitely sinister! LOL Thanks for sharing your bikepacking trip! :) :)

Thanks Jacqueline. That's a comment which shows you watched the whole thing👍👍👍!!! The Canadian section runs from Banf to Roosville. Everybody I've been in contact with raves about how nice the Canadian section is and I really can't wait to see for myself.

Spuds pedals are great clipped in and easy out and still good to walk in
@matryderadventures Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the recommendation. I'll have a look at those. I haven't made it to clipless yet. I think I'll wait until I'm back to give them a try. I've replaced the hideous vicious ones with some friendlier ones for now.

Just found your channel, love it. Your mums right, letting people know where you are is so much better. I try to remember. Ref pedals, man you need to get clipped in, its so much better and you will climb so much quicker. If your are doing the GDMBR there's one of two hills. And you won't rip your legs to bits.
@matryderadventures Жыл бұрын
Hi. Thanks. I'm glad you like the channel. I'll let my Mum know that she was right!!!! I know you're right but I'm a bit worried about switching to clipped in this close to setting off on the GDMBR. I fly out on June 30th. I could just bite the bullet and go for it. I'm tempted.
@GrahamFootBicycleLover Жыл бұрын
@@matryderadventures You have time to try them, even if you don't use them for GDMBR, you will fall off as you will forget to clip out but just try them on some grass. your brain soon remembers and before you know it it's just automatic. Shimano make the best pedals. Shimano ED500 Light Action SPD Pedal. Obviously you will need shoes to match.
@matryderadventures Жыл бұрын
@@GrahamFootBicycleLover I'll get some and try them. If they feel good I'll take them on the GDMBR. If not I'll start using them when I get back. I know I have to bite the bullet. Thanks for the recommendation. I watched your Dorset Dirt Dash. Nice video!

@matryderadventures thanks. Yes, what you said in your video about filming is the same for me. I just film what I like, mainly for myself to watch back. If people like it it's a bonus, but don't film for the sake of it. I'll have a look at your other videos. Nice to see what others are doing and riding.

Hi Mat I recently started watching your videos on KZbin. Out of interest what is the make of the mini stove you are using your cycle across the USA? John Dawson

Don’t cheap out on the pedals…been there, done that…bearings can wear, leaving you with the potential, ever-annoying “click, click, click” as you pedal… Have you tries PowerGrips? Been using them for many years, and they’ll make sure you don’t rip up your legs as your feet won’t fall off of the pedals! …and full disclosure, I don’t own the company or hold any shares in it! 😊
@matryderadventures Жыл бұрын
I just had a look at the PowerGrips. I don't know why I haven't considered this type of pedal. In my mind it's always been clipless or flats. They seem to be the best of both worlds. I've bought some MKS Lambdas already but will try the PowerGrips when I need new ones. Cheers 👍
